Kraftie Kre8ations September Pooh Bear Project

This is my project for the Kraftie Kre8ations Design Team for this month.  http://www.kraftiekre8ations.com/
September is National Honey Month and who better to spread the word about honey?  Pooh bear!  I had to dig out some old photos of my son in pooh attire.  I found quite a few but I just loved the expressions on his face in these pictures.  I cut the title quote by pooh "that buzzing noise means something" from Creative Memories Cricut cartridge Stork's Delivery and the sugar and spice font.  I used CM chamois and periwinkle card stock for the letters, to mat the photos, and to match the pooh diecut which is also CM.  The layered accents are EK Success Disney Classic Pooh.  I loved the subtle sparkle to them.  I accented this by using my Sakura Gelly Roll pen in Clear Star to outline almost everything on the page!  I also outlined the pooh diecut with pencil with reminded me of the sketchy look of the paper by Sandy Lion, Pooh Colorful Squares.  I chalked everything too, with Martha Stewart's Meyer Lemon chalk and Versa Magic Aegean Blue.

I had to look back to date the original pictures and this is my original scrapbook page of these photos.  True Creative Memories style circa 2001!

All CM product except for the pooh stickers and title sticker.

Sketch n Scrap Card Sketch # and Pretty Pink Posh 10 minute challenge card

Here I used a Wilton doily, The Paper Loft paper Shades of Gray gunmetal and Flip Flop Breeze.  The sentiment is also from The Paper Loft's Flip Flop collection. The strips are scraps from the cranberry, breeze and gunmetal papers.  I used the Creative Memories small heart punch to punch the hearts out of cranberry cardstock from Recollections.  I finished it off with various chalks of red and blue.  This one only took 9 minutes and 3 seconds!

I am entering this in the following challenges:

The Paper Loft September Sketch and Pretty Pink Posh 10 Minute Craft Dash card

This little card (actually A2) took 9 minutes and 50 seconds, I barely made the 10 minute challenge at Pretty Pink Posh!  I used this month's Paper Loft sketch challenge and some of their paper from Shades of Gray Gunmetal and from Flip Flops Breeze.  I used the Stampin Up Scallop punch and Say it with Scallops stamp set.  I stamped the image with SU Riding Hood Red.  I added some buttons that I flossed and the base of the card is a cranberry cardstock from Recollections.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Peace Card using Mojo Monday Sketch and Pretty Pink Posh Color Palette

Today's card was inspired by yesterday's Peace Blog Hop.  I also followed the Mojo Monday sketch #311 and used Pretty Pink Posh's color palette.  The pretty blue paper is HOTP peacock embossed, it is very nice.  I used Recollections red twine, an unknown ribbon and the gray paper is Creative Memories.  I stamped this Amazing Arts stamp with American Crafts Cranberry stamp marker and Stampin Up Ballet Blue marker.  I chalked with QQ Powder Puff Maraschino Cherry, one of my favorite products now available at Hobby Lobby!!  The time to create 9 minutes and 33 seconds.

The Scrap Rack Organizational Challenge~Embossing Powder

First of all, I am not in sync with Tiffany Spaulding's current 2013 Fall Get Organized challenge found here:  http://thescraprack.easystorecreator.com/2013-Fall_Get-Organized_Challenge-Tiffany-Spaulding-The-Scraprack-Tiffanize.asp.  I took the challenge originally in January, refreshed with the last one and about to refresh with the current lesson.  I have made extreme progress in "Tiffanizing" my stash.  I am still constantly sorting piles and storing in my organized area.  Her theories are life changing.  I have been able to utilize my stash so much more than I would have ever thought possible!  Of course, I still have thousands of stamps to catalog!  I have completed my inks and chalks and it is easy when I purchase a new color to add to my chart.  Now I have found myself "playing" with my embossing powders trying to find the best combination for the project. Time to Tiffanize! I was also inspired by Judikins' booth at Stampaway.  She has samples of all her embossing powders in a clear embossing ink and a black.  This is PERFECT to determine the range of colors you will get although not all the combinations you can come up with, it gives you the information to decide QUICKLY which powder to use.  I don't have that many so this was one of the quicker Tiffanizing projects.  I used stamps with details to be able to quickly judge how fine the powder.  I made two copies, one to store with my ink and stamp catalogs and one to cut up and store with my "rainbow" section. I have also organized them on the paper in a rainbow method. Finally, I wrote the name of the powder under the sample.  I have used 8.5 x 11 paper just as I have for the ink and stamp catalog for easy storage in a 3 ring binder (eventually).  For more information just check out Tiffany's website.  You DO NOT need to buy her product to participate but she has designed these products with her methods in mind.
My embossing powder list ended up a little messy, do you know how glittery I was when I was done with this?

Thanks for checking out my blog!  Have a great day!

Honeybearz Designs Back To School Blog Hop

Welcome to today's Back to School Blog Hop!  Honeybearz Designs has so graciously hosted this fun filled hop with some great blog candy!  Be sure to visit everyone and comment!  Rules for the Blog Hop candy are on Lisa's Honeybearz Designs' Page http://honeybearzdesigns2011.blogspot.com/  where the hop starts.  I am also giving away my own prize to be sure to read below for my rules.

You should have come from Melisa's blog:  http://melisascraftycreations.blogspot.com/

My project today is a "throwback to school" project!  I have so much to deal with the real back to school issues this past month, I felt nostalgic for the simplicity of "old school".  This is a photo of my mother.  I tried my hand at coloring, first digitally and that was not successful and then this:

What do you think?  As crafters, we all know not all projects turn out the way you want them to, I don't feel this is an unsuccessful project, just not what I envisioned.  But I am a little behind and do not own Copic markers.  This was colored with various Creative Memories and American Craft pens.  I do absolutely love my CM pens, but they may not be the best for coloring.  Let me know what you think of my attempt in the comment section below to win my giveaway.

I used the Graphic 45 ABC Primer collection and a few various paper flowers, brads and fiber to complete my layout.  Here are some close ups.
So here is all the Graphic 45 items that I used in my layout and they can be yours, too!  Just be a follower of my blog and comment below.  I am sorry at this time I cannot afford to ship internationally, only US residents are eligible.  I will pick a winner from the eligible comments via random.org.  I will announce the winner sometime next week, if the winner would please respond within a week to receive their prize!  You will get 6 sheets of ABC Primer paper (2 of 3 different papers) AND the chipboard embellishments shown!  Good Luck!  Thanks for stopping by and check out Lucy's blog next.

Next stop at Lucy's blog http://love2createitall.com/

Virtual Crop Projects~Happy Labor Day!

Saturday night I attended a virtual crop on Spreecast.  This is the second one in which I have participated.  Both were part of different Facebook groups and were both hosted by http://www.scrapsbygracie.blogspot.com/  . She comes up with the best challenges!  This past weekend she had a migraine and was still such a gracious hostess!  What a trooper!  The first challenge was to create a layout about your  Guilty Pleasures.  She uses a "spinner" to select various guidelines for each challenge.  Here are the selections for challenge #1:
1.       printed paper background
2.       Embellishments = Tags/Banners/Envelopes
3.       Technique = Tearing/Punching
4.       Journaling = List(s)
5.       Extra Challenge = Make your layout monochromatic
Tags were made with the Creative Memories tag punch and the border was created using the border maker system.
In my journaling I made list.  I tried really hard to make the layout monochromatic.

Challenge Two:
The 1980’s
Create a page that reflects something from the 1980s
Could be about you or family or just the 1980s (you can print pics from the web)
Create the page using the following spinner directions:
1.       Cardstock background
2.       Embellishments = Washi tape or ribbon
3.       Technique = embossing wet or dry
4.       Journaling = Song Lyrics
5.       Extra Challenge = Vellum or Transparency

I used a beautiful peach shimmer cardstock but then covered it with a transparency overlay.  The photo mats are embossed with a "notebook" style embossing folder.  Attached with washi tape.  I used the Creative Memories Cricut cartridge Be Young and Die Cuts with a View metallic paper to cut out the title.

Challenge  Three:
The 1990’s
Create a page that reflects something from the 1990s
Just like #2 it could be personal or about something from the era.
Create the page using the following spinner directions:
1.       Printed paper background
2.       Embellishments = Brads/buttons/eyelets
3.       Techniques = inking or distressing
4.       Journaling = paper strips
5.       Extra challenge = use product packaging somewhere on the layout.

I created a double page layout with these parameters.  I used Die Cuts with a View Green Stack paper.  Blue sticker letters and CM brown dual tip pen.  I punched the tag in the top left hand corner from the cover of the stack and with the CM circle tag punch.  I used brads on the title strips.

Page two also uses product packaging.  The journal box on the bottom is from the cover of the 6x6 Green Stack pad.  Printed paper, brads, journal strips, distress edges with ink,  and product packaging!

The two pages together.

Product packaging.

 Challenge Four: The 1970s
Create a page that reflects the 1970s.
Create the page using the following spinner directions:
1.       Cardstock background
2.       Embellishments = bling
3.       Techniques = stamping
4.       Journaling = Hidden
Extra challenge = make your layout 6x12

Hidden journaling is behind the chocolate bunny.

I used Judikins pastilles embossing powder on the lacey edge stamp.
