Blooming Flowers Blog Hop

Welcome to the

Today's hop is sponsored by Card A Day Challenge Blog

and the prize package you could win

To win just comment on the blogs in the hop today.  That's it! It's that simple.

We would also appreciate you following the blogs too.

Now on with the hop.

You should have arrived here from Anna's blog!!!

I pulled out my Heartfelt Creations stamps and matching Spellbinders dies to create some wonderful layered flowers.  I stamped with Versamark and embossed with Ranger silver pearl powder on white paper.  Then I used Quick Quotes chalking inks to color the flowers.  Before I assembled them I squirted them with a bit of water and on the back with a stylus I distressed them.  Heartfelt Creations teaches this technique in their classes.  I am sure you can find a tutorial on their site.  Finally, I popped up the layers with pop dots.

Ingredients:
Basic Grey Sweet Threads
Spellbinders Dahlia
Heartfelt Creations Moonlight Dahlia & Lily Petals stamps
Ranger silver pearl embossing powder
Quick Quotes chalking inks:  Sunset, Fushia, Seafoam, Cherry Blossom, Soft Sage
CTMH Just to Say sentiment
Versamark embossing ink
Stampin Up label punch
SU Sizzix die
Sizzix Marakesh die

Stick It Down card sketch with Pink Paislee Switchboard

For these sweet cards I used Pink Paislee's Switchboard collection.  I won this last May in a NSD challenge!  It is so cute, especially since my DH is a "telephone" man!  I used the matching Pink Paislee embellishments, too!

I was playing the 10 minute card game with this one (it goes so much easier with a sketch) and completed this one in 9:32

I used this awesome sketch from Stick it Down, I am loving their work!

Blog Candy inspired card!

I won some wonderful blog candy from Jennifer @ Just Coffee Please...  As soon as I started to put in away in my Organization by Tiffany way...I was inspired by so many items that I don't normally gravitate towards.

There was also a challenge on a virtual crop that I was participating in to use an envelope or pocket on your card or layout.  Well,  Jennifer @ Just Coffee Please.. had sent me the most wonderful little vellum envelopes and tickets...

Jennifer also sent the mini tag and the stickers with the sentiment and the bird.

For the tag I placed the sticker on the tag, masked over it and then sprayed black shimmer ink.  I finished the tag with some black ric rac and black staples.

Ingredients:
Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells 6x6
black, ivory and yellow card stock
black shimmer mist
 fiber and ric rac
goodies from blog candy: vellum envelope, tickets, stickers

AND

Sketch N Scrap Challenge: @ least 3 different die cuts!

Here's my sneak peek from the Sketch N Scrap blog:

My challenge is to use 3 or more DIFFERENT DIE CUTS.  I used Cricut Design Space to create the title, name and hand.  I used my Big Shot to cut the flourishes and emboss.

These pictures of from the Mayhem Festival in 2012.  The band is Motorhead.  To add some texture to the black and silver "metal" layout, I added an embossed piece of gray card stock.  I used the Tim Holtz British flag folder which was perfect for a band from England.

These are the first real cuts I created in Cricut Design Space.  I was very pleased!  I did have to go back and cut some miscellaneous pieces because layers can be "turned off" which I didn't realize at first. That feature is actually really nice you just have to know about it.  I love that you can duplicate just one layer of your cut.  For instance, I cut both of the hands from the Rock Princess cart but one had silver on the wrist and one did not.  I simple ungrouped the image and duplicated the silver layer to add to the hand that did not have it originally.  I was also able to "hide" the painted fingernails on the hands for a more masculine look.  I am loving that I can do exactly what I imagine without having to cut extra pieces and waste paper!!

My husband has requested that I frame this page and hang it in his man cave.

Ingredients:
Rusty Pickle Brass Knuckles Jam Session paper
Cricut Design Space Rock Princess
Blackletter font
Brushed silver card stock, misc card stock
Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folder & flourish die
We R Fog card stock
misc brads

Here's the prize up for grabs!  A package of twine, a bottle of stickles, some Little Yellow Bicycle canvas words and an embossing folder.

Cricut Explore Frog Card

I whipped up the cutest card while playing around with my new Cricut Explore.  I was so excited for the upgrade!  It comes with a learning curve for Cricut Design Space though.  After several videos, I have got the hang of the basics.  My free subscription is only for two weeks, so I wanted to churn out some things...this guy was the prototype.  He was a little on the small side so I made 6 more in a larger size.  This is two images from Mini Monster.  I first cut the "card" and the face is from another image, I sized them the same which is easy from the edit tool...literally just typed in 5.5" for each image.  I then just set up my mats and cut away!   I love how you can move the images around for maximum paper usage or on the other side of the paper instead of always on the top left corner.  I have also learned a few other tricks in my small amount of time on Design Space that I will share during my next challenge coming up May 23!

I chalked up the edges with Quick Quotes Green with Envy ink and Midnight Confessions.

I stamped the sentiment from Stampin Up Unfrogettable (very old set).

Quick Quotes Tags with altered dictionary page

Good morning Quick Quotes readers, Alicia with you today to show off some pretty tags made from altered dictionary pages.  There are actually a set of two dictionaries from my childhood.  My husband said recycle them and I said NO! Re purpose them!  So here is just my first project of what is sure to be many altered dictionary page projects.

Quick Quotes chalks used to distress the dictionary page:

This is my favorite tag of the three I made. I inked the tag generously with Sky Blue PowderPuff Chalking Ink  .  Layered a piece of dictionary page and then a generously inked doily in Latte.  I inked the small Petaloo flower in Sunset PowderPuff Chalking Ink.  The larger flower and the entire card are edged with Sky Blue PowderPuff Chalking Ink.  I added some blue seam binding for the ribbon.

Ingredients:

Other ingredients:
Petaloo flowers and leaf
seam binding
doily

For this tag, I used the same dictionary page and diecuts from Gypsy Road paper. I used a stylus on the back of the flowers to distress before chalking them with Quick Quotes Powder Puff inks.  I added some heavy decorative metal brads.

Ingredients:

Other ingredients:
metal brads

This tag does not use the dictionary page but an inked doilie.  I used Plum Crazy PowderPuff Chalking Ink generously on the doily and the tag which was first covered with Alton 300 paper. The flowers are made from Alton 100 paper.

Ingredients:

Other products:
Spellbinders Spiral blossoms die
Radiant Rain mist Ice
Recollections flourish bling
doily
sheer ribbon

Here are all three tags and the covered backs.
