DCWV Pet Stack with The Paper Players Sketch

I had another chance to play along with a couple of challenges before the end of the month.  I worked up some cute little cards as a gift for a friend.  She found this DCWV mat stack at a yard sale and purchased it for me!  How sweet, so I thought I would make her a couple of cards to give, she is a dog lover.  Here is another project I made for her.

My second card using the same papers and inspiration with a little variation.

Here's the sketch I used:

I also took inspiration from Give a Crafter a Cookie:

Ingredients:
DCWV Pet Stack
Quick Quotes Milk Chocolate chalking ink
Graphic 45 It's Raining Cats & Dogs stamps
Stampin Up Close to Cocoa
red card stock
Stampin Up Off White Flecked card stock (I can't remember the name and apparently this is no longer a current product~how's that for using up some old stash?)

Girls Just want to have fun! DCWV Stampaholic card sketch

I ended up having a minute to play with the DCWV Stackaholic card sketch challenge.

I tried to add enough sparkle.  The front piece is solid glitter paper from the Cardstock stack.  I used a glittery embossed patterned paper from Taj Mahal and the coordinating print in between is also from that stack.  I used gold embellishments to bring out those glittery circles.

Ingredients:
DCWV stacks: Taj Mahal 8x8 and Cardstock (pink glitter)
Inkadinkado Thoughts for the Day sentiment
American Craft red ink
Recollections Opaque Ruby embossing powder
ODBD double pierced circles
Quick Quotes Pixie Pink chalking ink
Sequins, mesh

Birthday Explosion box with Basic Grey Plumeria

I have two cards in a box for you today.  Similar but different.  I used the same papers, sentiment and card stock.  I used some different punches and skewed the color themes within the same collection.  I have two very good friends whose birthdays are very close and the same year even!  I think I am drawn to them for a reason!  So Happy Birthday to two of my oldest and dearest friends in the later half of my life.

I mounted the butterflies on acetate so they look more like that are flying.

And the second card is more oranges with hexes.

Ingredients:
Basic Grey Plumeria 6x6 papers
misc bling and pearls
Stampin Up Label Something sentiment
Stampin Up punches
Creative Memories hex punch
Ek Success Butterfly punch

Lacey Vintage card with Our Daily Bread Designs Sketch

I am playing along with Our Daily Bread Designs' sketch challenge with this card I also made for a "lace" card swap.  The base layer of paper from Little Yellow Bicycle is lacey but hard to detect after all the layers and distress I applied with my sponge dauber and Distress Frayed Burlap.  I loved layering the ODBD's pierced circles dies within the doily, a perfect fit!

For the three dots at the bottom I used liquid pearls.

Ingredients:
Recollections Ivory Honeycomb paper
Little Yellow Bicycle Feels like Home
Our Daily Bread Designs Pierced Circle dies
Stampin Up Vintage Labels sentiment
Distress Frayed Burlap
Brilliance Galaxy Gold
Wow Clear embossing powder
Martha Stewart ribbon
Ranger liquid Pearls
misc button and doily
white card stock

Quick Quotes Off the Page! Topiary in a Teacup

Hello, Alicia posting today with a flower project.  Our challenge this month at Quick Quotes.  I have upcycled a fancy teacup for display.  My mother used to make crafts like this years ago but not with paper, she used real flowers.  As a matter of fact she supplied me with the teacup!

I manually cut and embossed each flower and inked generously with Antique Linen PowderPuff Chalking Ink.  I then rolled the flowers using a dowel to keep them rounded.  Finally I added a dab of hot glue to keep them together.  Here they are after inking:

It took pretty much all of 100 flowers.  You can't tell but this is a miniature teacup.  The Styrofoam ball I used was only 2 1/2 inches.  Because of the tiny dimensions I used the smallest 3-D flower dies I had in my collection.  I though about electronically cutting them but the embossing details added so much texture especially when inked with Quick Quotes powderpuff chalking inks it was worth the effort.  I used pins with pearls on top to secure them to the ball.

I used half a ball at the bottom of the dowel for the base.  It fit in the teacup like a charm!  I covered the top (flat side) with leaves from the same die set, again with a beautiful emboss only more enhanced with Green with Envy PowderPuff Chalking Ink.  I added a few flowers at the base.  I didn't want to wait for paint to dry so I wrapped the wood dowel in gold washi tape that matched the gold detail on the teacup.  Finally, I added a bow with just a little sparkle.

Aren't the details of the cup exquisite?  I didn't want to actually alter the tea cup so thanks to the perfectly sized Styrofoam balls the topiary simply sits inside the teacup! I hope you have enjoyed this project. Please join us by August 25th for the Quick Quotes Flower challenge.
