It's time for a new challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2's Anything but a Card challenge. I love making "other" projects but sometimes I just need that push. I was very pleased with how this challenge went. My husband received this neat box for Valentine's filled with his favorite candies.
I used all aspects of the cut files including the printables file. The 7 images inside the "machine" were in the file. I must say the print was off slightly from the size of the box and I did not adjust any sizing in during my project. I fixed this issue by slicing the images and backing with another piece of the same plain white card stock so it is not noticeable.
Here's a view of the side with the lever which moves with the aid of a brad. I layered a large black sequin behind it because the cut file cut all the handle decorative pieces in the same paper it didn't add much dimension in all silver.
A view of the back corner. The patterned paper has skulls and music notes which is fitting for my husband.
I did cut the Jackpot and Lucky 7's extra layer pieces to provide some additional layers of color. Although I used another black (my hubby's favorite). I ended up using textured black card stock for the base, Black Magic shimmer paper, Silver brushed metallic card stock and black dots and brad. You can barely notice the layer of royal purple as the back layer behind the Lucky 7's piece and the largest layer of the lever.
And yes it is a box and with using the heavy textured black card stock as the base held up quite well when it took 2 bags of Reese's hearts to fill it with room to spare. It is a great size while still fitting on 12x12 mats. I was able to get many helpful hints by watching the Dreaming Tree assembly tutuorial this project begins at 29 minutes.
A view of deep inside. One can barely notice the second layer of the reel decoration in the center.
While the handle does move, it does not make the reels move or light up...my husband was a little disappointed in those parts.
The printable was a bit dark but worked perfectly for this project. You could go over the colors with markers and really make those cherries pop if you wanted.
Ingredients:
Best Creation Rock Star papers

This is a fantastic project and you went above and beyond adding all of those details too. I would not have noticed the skulls and music notes if you hadn't pointed them out, but I am sure he did. It is just stunning and I am sure he will display it with pride. Does he expect you to keep it filled with candy?
