Jill Cameron Blog Hop Rainbow card set

and welcome to the Craft Collab's Jill Cameron Creations Encouragement and Social Distancing Blog Hop.  I went wild with these Rainbow Hugs, Thank You and Hello cuts.  I paired them with glitter card bases for a real impact.

I often find with rainbow cuts, it makes since to make the cuts in all seven rainbow colors.  I pretty much did that and layered the various colors on a colored base layer.  I mixed up the layers of the sentiments as well.

So with all those layers, I obviously created multiple cards.  I had a stash of glitter card bases that worked great with these bright rainbow colors.  Glitter and glue is always an adhesion issue.  I have found that using red lined tape generously will create the best hold.

This closer look shows a silver lining.  I cut the cloud silver.  Then I created an additional cloud that I made just a fraction smaller which I cut in white.

This was actually the first card I created prior to my bright idea for a silver lining.  I really think it added a neat element to the cards.  This particular card seems to have just a little less impact.

I tried to use colors in my rainbow that in our in the layers of each sentiment and match the background mat.  However, this was the last card and kind of had some left over pieces and doesn't quite match as much.  Still a bright and cheery card.

All the files cut wonderfully in my Cricut Maker.  I sized the rainbow to approximately 3" x 3.5" so the sections are pretty thin.  I layered the 3 outer pieces with a tape runner on the back.  I placed it on the background mat and placed the center piece inside for a perfect fit.  I finally added the two layers of clouds to complete the rainbow.

Crafter's Companion Poppies and Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

It's time for a new sketch over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge. I spent a lot of time on this one.  I searched in my "tag" section of my Scraprack.  I found this great pocket with tag and the project grew from there.  I searched my inventory in Evernote and found that I had a poppy stamp and die set.  I had the striped paper scrap lying around from my recent Dreaming Tree project.  Creating the flowers, background and sentiment were the hard parts.

Here is the sketch:

I began by stamping and embossing the flowers on good card stock.  I think used three distress inks to add color to the flowers.  I wish I had better matched the reds, I thought Fired Brick would do it but it came out brighter than I expected.

Each flower is four stamped, embossed and inked pieces excluding leaves.  I shaped the flowers with my fingers.  I stamped the sentiment in the same ink as the inside of the flowers aMuse French Roast pigment ink.

I stamped the poppy buds with Colorbox Pistachio and embossed with clear powder as I did all the images.  I didn't want the buds to overpower the flower cluster so I picked a green that more closely matched the green in the paper versus the green in the leaves.  I masked in a few places as the bud and the stem were separate stamps.  All the stamps used came from the same set.

I loved how this tag has a neat envelope.

Ingredients:
Quick Quotes Spring Showers papers
Sheena (Crafter's Companion) Poppy Victorian Floral stamps and dies (several years old)
Colorbox Pistachio pigment ink
a Muse French Roast pigment ink
Tim Holtz Distress ink:  Wild Honey, Fired Brick and Mustard Seed
Spellbinders Label die
Judikins clear embossing powder
masking tape

Cricut Rockin' Good Birthday card

I am not sure one could receive a more personalized card. I created this birthday card for a friend of mine.  He's obviously the drummer for the band Smoke Healer.  I even flipped the image in CDS since he is a left handed drummer.  I used a deep purple paper for the drums close to the color of his kit but it is so dark it is hard to distinguish.

I also used an actual photo of his drum with the logo.  I put the drum set on pop dots and layered on some super cool background paper. I stamped the sentiment and puched it out.

Ingredients:
Cricut Indie Days-drum image
Our Daily Bread Designs Rock Star sentiment
Stampin Up punch and Black ink
Marah Johnson paper

Cricut Rock in Peace with DCWV Tie Dyed stack

One more card using DCWV Tie Dyed stack and a sketch. This is another card I used a Cricut cut.  I regretted immediately creating three of these cuts.  I should always make one first!  However, I did end up with 6 images because I was able to use the negatives.  I only created two cards with the Stick it Down sketch,  I love how they turned out.

Here is the sketch

I had to use the negative to get these line lines lined up...very thin.

Love this paper as the background.

Ingredients:
Halloween Line Art Phrases
DCWV Tie Dyed stack
black card stock

Unity Willow Girl-Peace Out card

I was able to play a little in my studio this weekend.  I checked out some sketches and played along.  First up is this simple and versatile one.  I have the DCWV Tie Dyed stack on my desk and this was the perfect use of scraps from some other cards I created.

Here is the sketch:

I splashed some shimmer mist on the background to add another element.  Distress Oxide Spiced Marmalade matched the orange in the peace symbols perfectly.
