Art Nouveau Dragonfly Birthday card for Bitten by the Bug 2

Good morning and welcome to the latest Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge. The theme this time around is birthday.  I had the the dragonfly cut in my stash.  Luckily, I still had some of the same papers to create the rest of the card. I had the same coral card stock from the center of the dragonfly.  I used it and the same brown to cut the sentiment using the Art Nouveau font.

I was also able to match the yellow Bazzill card stock exactly.  I found the teal shimmer made a great card base.  The reason I didn't use this cut in the first place was the size.  It is 7" across. I must have added the brown shadow after the fact and didn't quite account for the extra dimension.

Fast forward a couple of years and slimline cards are all the rage!  Yeah me!  Now I had this great cut.  I also have some slimline dies in my stash.  I used a stitched slimline panel while allowing .25" of the teal shimmer to be revealed on the top and bottom.  The final dimensions are 4" x 8.5".

Ingredients:
Cricut Art Nouveau images and font
Tutti Designs Stitched Slimline die
misc card stock including glitter, shimmer and Bazzill

Don't forget to play along with Bitten by the Bug 2 for the next two weeks with any Birthday project.  Be sure and use your Cricut..

EarthArt Dragonfly card with Sketch N Scap

In cleaning up my desk I found this dragonfly I had already colored.  I found some rich papers from Graphic 45 and k & Co to pair with the pretty colors I used on this intricate stamp. I love these and have several animal stamps. It all came together for this sweet card.

I used this month's first card sketch from Sketch n Scrap:

It was hard to get a good close up of this image.  Here is the best I could do.

Thank you card using Paper Play Sketch #38

Happy Day!  Here's a second card using the same card kit as yesterday. I used a current sketch challenge from Paper Play Sketches and created this sweet card.

Here's the sketch I used:

I received almost all the materials in the card from Cheryl Phillips in a card swap kit.  The sentiment is a Cricut cut from Baby Shower.  I used my own vanilla textured card base and some ribbon from Quick Quotes.

Hand painted fairies and dragonflies

I called this the butterfly lady.  This is a larger heavier casting.  She sells for $18.

A set of copper fairies in red with blonde hair.  Necklace is made of many individual links with glass seed beads, cathedral glass and copper.  Notice the star toggle clasp.  Frenchooks hooks are surgical steel with copper accents.  Frenchhooks can be changed to accommodate any allergies or even made into post for those without pierced ears!  Although this set is no longer available a similar set would range $45.  Earrings alone $15.

A set or iris painted dragonflies with copper links of seed beads, czech glass and coppertone beads.  This style of necklace is no longer available but could design something similar.

I have nice choices of color combinations and I sometimes do them again as seen below.  But rarely are two pairs EXACTLY the same!  Large Copper Dragonfly Earrings are $18.

The Paper Loft April Sketch Challenge

I absolutely love this dragonfly paper!  Dragonflies are a favorite of mine.  I used the Creative Memories border maker system to create the decorative strip.  I layered Paper Loft paper with card stock for the ribbons and titles.

This is one of the best pictures of the boys just foolin around on top of Lookout Mountain.

I painted these small wooden dragonflies then misted them with walnut ink.  Finally, I used a pen to create some details and added pearl bling for eyes.

cards from scraps

I had made several of the dragonflies trying out my different embossing powders.  I have the matching punch. Stamp from Purple Daisy.  The paper I used was from a  Creative Memories 8x8 autumn package from a few years ago and Vintage Perfect Fit, a Basic Grey Christmas Stack and the patterned flower paper is from the DCWV Heirloom stack (new).  The doilies are from my first experiment with my Cricut Expression 2.  I added some shimmer mist to dress the white paper up.  Almost everything I used was from my scrap pile except the bling!
