Quick Quotes Live for Today Girl layout

Hello Quick Quotes readers.  Alicia here, I am using leftovers today to create a sweet layout of my nieces.  Since I have boys, I take every opportunity to get girly and scrap my four nieces.  These are my sister's three on vacation in Savannah.  I started with the Cricut shaped mats and bow in the center, I cut them a while ago and just had not used them for their original purpose. I used templates to cut scraps pieces from the Farmhouse collection.

I took the leftover title die cut from a Club Q kit and inked it up with Blue Jeans PowderPuff Chalking Ink but it was too bright, then I layered Coal Miner PowderPuff Chalking Ink on top and went back and forth inking until I got it really dark to match the dark blue paper.

Here's a money saving tip for you...you don't need to use the whole strip of pearls!  (or any embellishment).  The layer of pearls all the way across the layout just added bulkiness under the big bow.  I save time and product by just cutting strips that will "show".

Quick Quotes Sweet Birthday Card

Good Morning Quick Quotes readers.  I hope you are getting your 2016 off to a good start! Alicia here today with a very special birthday card I made for my niece.  She loves pearls, I think she will love this!  I used several papers from the Farmhouse collection along with some pretty pearl bling.  I wanted to keep it sweet and feminine just like my precious niece.

I love to create my own embellishments so they match perfectly.  For this card, I stamped the sentiment with Seafoam PowderPuff Chalking Ink and cut with a circle cutter.  I took the Farmhouse 105 paper and using a circle punch punched out several pieces of the circular design.

 

I then pieced the circle punches around my sentiment using the details of the design as a guideline to space evenly.  Finally I layered a die cut in different paper behind those pieces. After I mounted it to the card, I embellished with pearls!

Today, I am remembering a great time from the past year.  I love Trombone Shorty.  I first saw him at the New Orleans JazzFest in 2007.  I didn't know who he was, but after his show, I was determined to see him as much as I could.  He is a charismatic band leader and fantastic musician...and I love HORNS!  This show was just a mile away from my house!

My Favorite Projects of 2015 Part Deux

Instead of one really long post, I have made two somewhat long post of my favorite projects in 2015.  I hope you enjoy.  If you want to know more about the piece, I have included the link to the original post.

I really, really loved this card from August.  I used versamark and clear embossing powder to create the "frame", it turned out beautiful...I need to do this again!

I love this mixed media piece I did for my hubby and he did too!



One of my favorite layouts of the year.  Pinterest inspired!





I was truly enamoured with this image and I love how the card turned out.






This is a very pretty layout of my niece I did for Quick Quotes.





In November, I hosted the Quick Quotes challenge. I love this card...I sent it to my Secret Sis!  I hope she loved it as much!




These are some of my favorite cards from all year!  I can't wait to give this to my niece for her birthday in May!  She is gonna LOVE it!

This is my first card with my new minc machine.  This one was for a friend expecting a girl!




I was really happy with this tag and my distress ink experimentation.






My favorite of this years Xmas cards have to be these white and gold cards using my minc.




Finally, the last mixed media/altered project of the year.  I spent so much time on this one.  It was all consuming for a bit.  I have to be proud!  It is still on my mantel.

My favorite 2015 projects

I have been busy creating for January and other items I can't post yet, so I thought I would reflect on my crafty goodness from 2015.  I had so many favorites!  It was hard to decide...so this is post one of two.  My first altered project of the year was a great one.  I made this for an altered letter swap.  I am sure my friend Lynn loved it!  One of my best projects of the year!

I loved this layout with Quick Quotes for my wedding album.  It was one of my first DT post.

I love making my husband goodies! Another QQ DT post.  This was his Valentine's gift.



I really loved this card, Sketch N Scrap (my other DT) has the BEST sketches!



I really enjoyed creating this project for a benefit.  Kista stills has her "house" if I had only made it a little bigger she would fit!



These Graphic 45 and Tim Holtz cards are great.  I love those two designers together!




I have several rock n roll layouts but in light of his recent passing, I share Lemmy...




I like how I used embossing folders, vellum and chalk here.



Another Tim Holtz creation, I love Xmas in July.



Another card for my husband.  I had him in mind with all the details down to the bone in ribeye!

Quick Quotes Sparkle and Shine Mini Album

Merry Christmas! Alicia with you today to share a Sparkle and Shine mini album.  I used lots of left overs from Quick Quotes December Club Q.  This month's kit had so many beautiful die cuts, vellum quote and embellishments.  I added more papers and embellishments from the Whistlin Dixie collection to make a fun, festive and sparkly album!

To create the pages I simply added a quarter inch to the width of the square page and scored.  I adhered the quarter inch scored and folded piece to an piece of paper of equal length but half the width.  After the eight pages were in place, I slipped the ends between the chipboard and the paper I am using to cover the outside before adhering securely. 

I decorated the pages with tags from this month's Club Q kit just adding some ribbon and a cute die cut cardinal.  I also used the chipboard words Joy, Believe, and Peace from the kit after I colored them with Quick Quotes PowderPuff Chalking inks.

On the final page, I left the backing on most of the chipboard sentiment until after the photograph is placed.  I also only adhered the edges of "love" paper so that a photo can easily be slipped inside.

What is easier than completing a leftover class project for a gift?  I started this mini flip album back in August at the Quick Quotes Mini Reserve.  I had never thought of adding paper to just a photo flip book!  I did these first few pages in class.



We made a really neat bow that the front tucks into, then opening reveals these pictures:



I did keep the instructions, but it was super easy to just measure the inserts I had already completed.  4" wide and 12" long scored at 5.75". That is your basic insert.

I used several scraps to help finish this up.  I took a small strip and edged it.  I then cut it instead of scoring it, so it would fold nicer.  The great part about double sided paper is that I could have used either side.

On this page, I used one insert as usual and taped one going "down" instead of inside...so a double flip!  Utilizing every surface, I was able to put 6 pics in this one pocket!

This is another configuration from class. Instead of a down fold, we made a "tri" fold and taped it folding outward.  (not measurements are different here, but since I didn't duplicate this page from class I did not note them).  This whopper of a fold out hold 8 pictures if you are so inclined counting the one on the back that is slipped inside.

Printing and selecting the pictures took more time than assembly.  I lifted many of these from my nieces' FB pages so I could have some current pics.  I could not find this flip album on the QQ site, I thought they said they would sell them...but you can find a flip book any where and dress it up for a really great last minute gift...using left over pics from your scrapbooking would be an even better time saver!
