Sketch in Thyme Design Team

Today is my first post for Sketches in Thyme.  I am so excited to be on a scrapbooking challenge blog design team again.  I have been remiss on scrapping in 2020 and I hope to scrap a lot more in 2021.

Here is this week's sketch.

I chose to use flower and landscape photos from a dog walk a couple of years ago.  I cut yellow mats with a very thin border for the photos.

I journaled with a round tip pen for a bold font.

Ingredients:
Little Yellow Bicycle Feels Like Home paper
Creative Memories blueberry sticker letters and black pen
yellow and white card stock

Quick Quotes Scatter Joy with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

I had a lot of fun creating today's card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week.  I first decided I wanted to use butterflies and found the perfect ones in three different stamp sets.  I also used three different inks which all complimented the Quick Quotes papers I chose.

Here is the sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

Here's a closer look at all those pretty butterflies.  The sentiment was part of the Quick Quotes Farmhouse collection.  I added a few sequins for interest.

Ingredients:
Quick Quotes Farmhouse papers and ephemera
Stampin Up butterflies from Papillon Potpourri, Best of Butterflies and Polka Dot Pieces
Stampin Up Dusty Durango, Sage Shadow and Tangerine Tango inks

Cricut Magical Winter Snowflake challenge

Welcome to my inspiration for the latest Bitten By the Bug 2's Magical Winter Snowflake challenge. I found this very fancy polar bear with a snowflake pattern in the Quilted Christmas image set.  I used some snowy white textured papers with some crisp blues in keeping traditional winter colors.

I used the same papers to create the frame layers as I used in the bear cut.

Ingredients:
Cricut A Quilted Christmas
Frantic Stamper Rounded Corner Rectangle dies
Bazzill card stock
Brushed paper and misc card stock

Karen Burniston Unicorn-Be Yourself

Good day.  Today, I created an iridescent unicorn card.   I thought I may send this to my nephew so I wanted to keep it unisex. I thought the snippets of iridescent poster board I had in my stash would make a perfect unicorn.  Of course, I had to throw in some glitter (the mane). I added a metallic blue horn and muzzle.  I stamped and embossed the sentiments in a metallic blue. I layered all that on a stitched rectangle die from cloud paper.

Here is a close up.  I tried to keep the rest of the card simple to not distract from the very unique unicorn.  I added a recent find of iridescent gem accent picks behind the die cut which is popped up on foam for more effect.

Hello card with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Welcome to my inspiration for the latest Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge.  I have had these old Creative Memories papers on my desk for a while.  They are actually part of a gift set with photo mats, border strips and stickers.  I really mixed this card up with flowers, die cuts and brads.  I recently scored the fleur de lis brads at my favorite little store~Indigo Hippo.

Here is the sketch:

I often use this tip I learned from Jennifer McGuire to layer several of the die cut sentiments for more dimension and pop!

Ingredients:
Creative Memories paper
Karen Burniston Hello die
black paper
flowers and brads
Diana Larson Vintage Ivory crinkle ribbon

I also made a couple of more cards with the same papers, adding old Creative Memories stickers, some die cuts and stamped sentiments.  I thought I would give these away as a set.  I still have a few more strips, perhaps I should make 3 more?

Cricut Get Well Soon

Good morning and welcome to the first Bitten By the Bug 2 challenge of 2021.  Our theme is Get Well Wishes and is open for the next two weeks.  I always try to begin with about 3 ideas for projects when creating for our themes.  Today I am showing you all three attempts.

My first card from Simple Cards turned out to do double time by using the negatives.  I used the same navy card stock behind the original cut as the card base for the negatives.

I used the original cut for a stencil prior to adhering the back layer.  I tape it to my desktop using blue painters tape.  The original was not exactly A2 size but I did cut my negative card that size, hence the navy blue lip sticking out.  I centered the stencil before gluing the pieces in place.

Here is the completed negative card.

I also made this whale card.  I used more Quick Quotes paper, however, this is from a nautical collection. I felt that was fitting for the whale card.

And finally, I would like to show how not all ideas come out the way I plan.  After much consideration about what printed papers to use, I thought this black and white would look great with a pop of red.  FAIL.  I almost didn't post it, but I decided you should see what cards I would typically not blog. While the first card turned out beautifully (the inside is a nice soft pattern) with the print working for the card...this print did NOT lend itself to the cut.

Ingredients:
Quick Quotes Harmony and Anchor's Away papers
Quick Quotes Deep Sea Powderpuff chalking ink
Basic Grey Spice Market paper (black and white)
misc card stock

Elizabeth Craft Mushroom House card with gnome

Welcome to 2021!  I am starting the year off with a shaped fantasy card, I just got these dies in December.  I had a ton of fun creating this sweet scene.   I began with white card stock for the base and mushrooms.  It was 6" by 10".  I used a nice deep red card stock for the top of the mushroom.  The rest of the pieces were cut from various card stock and paper scraps.

I cut the window details from a dark brown and yellow vellum.  I used the negative yellow vellum to place inside the brown window detail.  It may not be visible in the photos but I used a brown flocked paper for the boots and belt of the gnome.  It's super cute in person.

I added the snail from Karen Burniston Backyard Charm dies.  I embossed the shell and highlighted with chalk.  I detailed the face using the die and a black pen.

Cricut Eat, Drink and Be Merry!

Happy New Year!  I am not sure I have ever been so happy to ring in a new year.  Let's hope 2021 is better.  However, I did spend the evening live streaming a concert.  I can't wait to see live music again.  In the meantime, I stay home and craft...

Here's another view.  I added small seed beads as my bubbles.  I also added some gold sequins.

Ingredients:
Cricut carts: Close to My Heart-You are Here and Divine Wedding
Spellbinders Label Eleven and Grand Label Eleven
Recollections Black Card base
misc card stock and papers including metallic, vellum and glitter
