Kindred Stamps You're the Cheesiest! Say Cheese and Smile challenge guest designer at Double Trouble

Welcome to my second installment as Double Trouble Challenge Crazy Cousin. This biweekly challenge is Say Cheese and Smile! I used this opportunity to play with my Kindred Stamps Pizza chef and papers.  I ending up fussy cutting some of the toppings but I think it made for a super fun card.

Here is the challenge from Double Trouble Challenge.  Play along with the Thing 1 or add Thing 2 and a Twist!  I have done all three!

Here is the sketch from Try Stampin On Tuesday.

Another view. I popped some of those fussy cuts up on dots!

My Double Trouble Challenge avatar. I love it so much.  Love my Sparky.

Tim Holtz dogs "Warm & Cuddly" cards as January Double Trouble Crazy Cousin

Welcome to my blog today.  I am guest designing for Double Trouble Challenge blog.  The position is called Crazy Cousin and I am excited about the new format at Double Trouble Challenge beginning this month.  As usual there are three parts to the challenge but the details of each have changed. See below for all the details. I was so excited I may have gone overboard.

Here is my awesome Crazy Cousin avatar including my little dog Sparky.

Here are the details of this month's challenge.  The first part is a 3-2-1 recipe. This week is 3 colors, 2 layers and 1 cuddly image.

This year the Double Dare will be playing along with Try a Sketch On Tuesday every challenge.

I really got carried away and created three cards.  The Tim Holtz set I own comes with three dogs so I had to color all of them!  Out of the three versions this was my husbands favorite.

This is the first little guy I inked up, I wanted him to match the yellows in my paper pack.

I gave this puppy some spots.  I chose the blue background it looks like it makes him happy.

Ingredients:
Tim Holtz Sizzix Dog Talk stamp and die set
Tutti Designs Cross Stitch Nesting Square dies
American Crafts 6x6 basics paper pad
alcohol markers

If you follow all three parts of Double Trouble Challenge play along there and you are most likely eligible to enter in these challenges:  Try a Sketch On Tuesday and Crazy Critters Challenge.

Stampin Up Seas the Day CAS Less but Better for Double Trouble Challenge #164

Today is my second installment as guest designer for Double Trouble Challenge for Challenge 164 which is CAS Less but Better.  CAS is a little hard for me to create.  I like inky and I am pretty messy.  The Twisted Sister twist did help a bit, use color cardstock for the "white" space.  As you can see, that worked for me.

Here is the prompt from Double Trouble Challenge 164.  You can find all the details following the link.

I recently acquired this Stampin Up set.  There are so many wonderful layered cards with the set, however, I easily envisioned this CAS design with the deep sea creatures featured on a shimmer ink splatter.

I created a second card with the same set, different creature and colors.  You can see why I am not a fan of CAS.  After I was completely done, I smeared ink at the bottom toward the left.  It's visible in the photo but really apparent in person as the ink is black.  I was also a bit disappointed with the ink I used for the sentiment.  It is the same as the jellyfish but it does not "pop" off the shimmer spray.  Again, in real life all the shimmer inks and sprays do look very pretty.

Another view of the iridescent inked jelly fish and sentiment.

Here are both cards.

Ingredients:
Stampin Up Seas the Day stamps and dies
Scrapbook.com Vacation cardstock
Tim Holtz Distress inks: Peacock Feathers, Salvage Patina and Tumbled Glass
Tattered Angels Dazzling Diamonds glimmer mist
Stampin Up Crisp Cantaloupe ink
Versafine Onyx Black
Radiance White Cover stock from Marco's

jellyfish-Brillance Pearlescent Purple and Pearlescent Twilight ink

Play along with Double Trouble Challenge #164 "CAS Less But Better"  from Monday, April 15th - thru Sunday, April 28th.  And also played along with The Crafter's Cafe.

"Let's Get Krafty" Earth Day card as Double Trouble Guest Designer

Hello and happy April! I have been invited to be the guest designer this month at Double Trouble Challenge.  April's first challenge is "Let's Get Krafty" and runs through April 14.  I  used kraft card stock as my card base.  I used a variety of techniques to incorporate shades of blue as per the Twisted Sister element.

Here's the prompt for Double Trouble challenge #163.

Here is a close up of my die cut and background.  I inked the edges and shaded with chalking ink.  I sprayed the kraft card stock with shimmer spray to lend a touch of sparkle. The sparkle background segues into iridescent paper I used for the globe stand.  I cut both parts of the globe from shades of blue in keeping with the Twisted Sister prompt.

Ingredients:
Spellbinders August 2020 Around the World dies
Kindred Stamps Earth Day stamps
Stampin Up Blueberry Bushel ink
Lindy's Gang Starburst Sprays Bachelor Button Blue
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink Blue Moon

The final piece of this challenge is to join in the challenge over at Inspiration Station.  HERE is there prompt and more details.

This will qualify you for an additional chance in our random drawing. "Try to leave the Earth a better place than it was when you arrived.” -- Sidney Sheldon

Dreaming Tree German Bus Box for Bitten by the Bug 2 and Double Trouble Colab

Welcome to my inspiration for the last Bitten by the Bug 2's Layer up!  While Double Trouble Challenge has some twist you can find the details from the above link. I went with lots of layers but left out the cozy and cuddly.  I used a variety of materials to create another Dreaming Tree German Bus.

This one was a commission piece for a coworkers daughter.  Her daughter's room is butterflies.

Each part of the box begins with twelve pieces.  I used glue, time and patience to adhere each layer to create the box.

Then, I layered this box up with a sturdy card stock first.  Second a beautiful glossy embossed butterfly paper.  Third some metallic silver details and acetate windows.  Finally, gems to accent.

The back side.

As I said this box is sturdy and has a few layers in the bottom including decorative butterfly paper.

Ingredients:
 g.c.d./Melody Ross~Artsy.Urban butterfly paper
DCWV card stock
metallic paper
acetate
gems

Double Trouble's Crazy Cousin Layers Challenge

Hello, it's time again to be a Crazy Cousin for Double Trouble Layers Challenge.  This challenge is all about layers.  I tried a new fold and piled on the layers.

Here is my project.  Double Trouble asks that you tell them how many layers and trying to count, I believe there is more than 10!!  I die cut, inked, colored, stamped and fussy cut to create this scene.

Here are the details of the challenge. I added pearls to the center of the die cut flowers to comply with the twist.

My card began with this layer. I created the folds and determined what sides would "show" and inked those pieces up with Distress Oxide Bundled Sage.  The center was die cut with the vine die so it didn't need to be completely inked.  The center panel is 5.5"x5.5" to fit the vine die cut.

Here is a side view.  I watched a video but because I die cut the front instead of making that side the back I had to make it work with my changes.  I don't know that I would make it this way again.

One tip I took from the video was to reinforce the front panel with extra layers.  I die cut another half sheet of the vines and glued it behind just off center to create a shadow.  The bottom is reinforced with a thin layer of die cut "grass". I also glued the die cut layer with the fairy and mushrooms directly on the front panel.  I layered a die cut and inked pieced of grass which was 1.5-2" in height.  I added a drop of glue to the fairy's leg to provide support from the taller grass layer.  I also stamped a mushroom cluster on that layer.

I used Distress Oxide Forest Moss on the next two layers.  I dusted all the layers with green shimmer ink before assembling the card.  The trees are die cut and embossed from the same set and inked with Forest Moss.  The are not sprayed with shimmer ink.  I stamped flowers on the first hill layer.  The two hill layers are opposite sides of the die cut.

I colored the die cut mushrooms and fairy with alcohol markers.  I used Spectrum Noir shimmer alcohol on the dress, wings and hair of the fairy.

The back of the shadow box is a sheet of paper from the kit.  I also cut the flowers and purple vine from printed paper.

Ingredients:
Crafter's Companion Build a Scene box including dies, stamps, pearls and papers
Distress Oxide inks
Spectrum Noir shimmer ink pens
alcohol markers

Spring Equinox with Bitten By the Bug 2 and Double Trouble challenge

Hello and welcome to our latest challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 Spring Equinox.  The planet marks a seasonal change in the coming week depending on where you live on this planet you may or may not be seeing the signs of Spring bud.  This time around create a spring inspired project.  And for a twist...BBTB2 has collaborated with Double Trouble Paper Crafting Challenge Blog for this challenge. They have several layers to their challenge and I have shared their post below and encourage you to play along with one, two or all three of the layers of this challenge.  I personally played with all 3!

Here is the Double Trouble post:

WELCOME to Challenge #52
Let the Troubles Begin

"Die-lirious and Punchy"
THING 1:  Trouble Maker

says, "I'm feeling Die-lirious and Punchy!  Include at least one Spring item on your project made with  punches, dies, cutting machines and even fussy-cutting (i.e. hand punches, die cutting machines, Cricut, Silhouette, Scan & Cut, scissors, etc).

You can stop here...

OR, you can choose to use Twisted Sister's Optional Twist below.
THING 3:  Twisted Sister
says, "Winter is behind us and Spring is just around the corner what many believe to be the best season of them all!  Hope I'm not bugging you; but it's time to put some sweetness in our projects and why not include a bee, the makers of honey, or their honeycombs.

This is an OPTIONAL TWIST but you will be awarded an additional chance in Double Trouble's random draw if you include this twist in your project.

 THING 2:  Double Dare
says, "Bitten By the Bug is a challenge that usually requires cuts from your Cricut machine, however, we were able to CUT a Die'al."
For this challenge Bitten By the Bug is accepting the use of hand punches, die cutting machines, but NO fussy-cutting! Besides using a Cricut you are free to use Silhouette, Brother Scan and Cut or other similar devices. Be sure to tell us in your blog post what you used.

So, if you have used a Spring theme and at least one cut from any of these machines, you can click on Bitten By the Bug "Spring Equinox" Challenge and enter your project.  You don't need to use Twisted Sister's optional twist to enter and you will still earn an additional chance at the Double Trouble Random Draw.

Now for more of my project.  I ended up cutting the box twice hence two completed.  I decorated each one with bees from the Sentimentals cartridge and Tim Holtz Tattered flowers shaped and attached with a brad.  This particular box also has a beehive from Sentimentals.

The box open.

The second box doesn't use the beehive cut.  Instead I added more flowers.

The second box in the open position.

Shaping the bees and flowers really add a lot of "life" to the box.

Products used:
Cricut cartridges Box it Up and Sentimentals (bee and hive)
Tim Holtz Sizzix Sizzlits Decorative Strip Tattered Flower Garland
Quick Quotes Secret Garden papers
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking ink Midnight Confessions
