Tim Holtz dogs "Warm & Cuddly" cards as January Double Trouble Crazy Cousin

Welcome to my blog today.  I am guest designing for Double Trouble Challenge blog.  The position is called Crazy Cousin and I am excited about the new format at Double Trouble Challenge beginning this month.  As usual there are three parts to the challenge but the details of each have changed. See below for all the details. I was so excited I may have gone overboard.

Here is my awesome Crazy Cousin avatar including my little dog Sparky.

Here are the details of this month's challenge.  The first part is a 3-2-1 recipe. This week is 3 colors, 2 layers and 1 cuddly image.

This year the Double Dare will be playing along with Try a Sketch On Tuesday every challenge.

I really got carried away and created three cards.  The Tim Holtz set I own comes with three dogs so I had to color all of them!  Out of the three versions this was my husbands favorite.

This is the first little guy I inked up, I wanted him to match the yellows in my paper pack.

I gave this puppy some spots.  I chose the blue background it looks like it makes him happy.

Ingredients:
Tim Holtz Sizzix Dog Talk stamp and die set
Tutti Designs Cross Stitch Nesting Square dies
American Crafts 6x6 basics paper pad
alcohol markers

If you follow all three parts of Double Trouble Challenge play along there and you are most likely eligible to enter in these challenges:  Try a Sketch On Tuesday and Crazy Critters Challenge.

Kindred Stamps Gal Pals Birthday Card

Welcome to my blog today.  I am showing off my SIL's birthday card.  She is a big fan of the gal pals.  I loved it and I can't wait to send her a card with more of the gals. I did color a round of all the gals and this is number 3.  I will be sure to post the fourth project when it gets completed.

I enjoyed coloring the gals.  I feel like I need to work on skin tones.

Festivus for the Rest of Us

May I present this year's primary card...I absolutely fell in love with this stamp set from Kindred Stamps.  I knew right away I wanted to create Festivus cards. My husband really helped out as we created an assembly line.  He die cut all the "poles" and black pierced circles.  I colored all the George's and well all the rest...but his doing the die cutting really helped the process.  Despite his assist I am sure I will find plenty to say when we have the airing of the grievances for 2020!

I know George likes to where a plaid shirt but I could not fathom coloring plaid so I made his shirts red and used plaid for the background. I started with some plaid papers from various 6x6 paper stacks, I made so many cards I eventually found some 12x12 plaid paper to make more per sheet than one background.

I stamped George and the sentiment in archival ink.  I used a variety of alcohol markers to color George.  I made so many I got the process down pretty well.

I could not for the life of me find a die from which to cut the sentiment so I just trimmed into a rectangle.  And edged with black ink as I did all the elements.

I used a "straw" die for the pole and just cut small pieces for the base.

The inside of my card.  I printed an image I found on a google search.

My MISTI really came in handy making multiple cards.

I stamped this sentiment where I would normally stamp my "hand made by" on the back.

One last plaid...

misc plaid papers, metallic card stock, black and white card stock

Stampin Up Hey Chick for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Hey Chick!  This one is a wild one!  I created this card for the latest Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I began by coloring this crazy bird.  After finding some need matching papers, I stamped and embossed the sentiment.

Here is this week's sketch:

But oh!  those feathers.  I found a couple in my stash that looked as if they would belong on this bird and used a yellow pearl button to tie them together.  My other embellishments are tiny yellow sequins that are more visible in real life.

Ingredients:
Stampin Up Hey Chick and matching die cut
Colorbox black pigment ink
Judikins Black Detail embossing powder
sequins, gems and feathers

Snow is Glistening... and CAS(E) this sketch!

I spent the weekend making a bunch of Holiday cards.  Besides a significant number, I was also attempting to keep my cards flat as to require a regular first class stamp.  I tend to make bling~y and bulky cards which require extra non-machinable postage.  So the CAS(E) this sketch was a great inspiration to begin my day of card making.  I was also dreaming of an all white card...as you can see it is just so hard for me to do that but I came pretty close!

Here's the sketch:

To create this card I used the following steps:
  • Stamp and emboss image on white card stock and sentiment on paper
  • Color image
  • Die cut white card stock
  • Spray with glimmer mist
  • Round two corners of sentiment strip
  • Adhere to card base

The angle of this photo shows the glimmer mist which fits perfectly with the sentiment.

Ingredients:
Stampin Up The Portfolio Collection and To You & Yours
Markers:  Copic B00 & BV25 and Mocha from another brand
Frantic Stamper Rounded Corner Stitched Rectangle die
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist-Glacier
Colorbox Black pigment ink and Judikins Black Detail embossing powder
Creative Memories corner rounder
Bo Bunny 6x6 Christmas in the Village paper
misc card stock
