Tim Holtz dogs "Warm & Cuddly" cards as January Double Trouble Crazy Cousin

Welcome to my blog today.  I am guest designing for Double Trouble Challenge blog.  The position is called Crazy Cousin and I am excited about the new format at Double Trouble Challenge beginning this month.  As usual there are three parts to the challenge but the details of each have changed. See below for all the details. I was so excited I may have gone overboard.

Here is my awesome Crazy Cousin avatar including my little dog Sparky.

Here are the details of this month's challenge.  The first part is a 3-2-1 recipe. This week is 3 colors, 2 layers and 1 cuddly image.

This year the Double Dare will be playing along with Try a Sketch On Tuesday every challenge.

I really got carried away and created three cards.  The Tim Holtz set I own comes with three dogs so I had to color all of them!  Out of the three versions this was my husbands favorite.

This is the first little guy I inked up, I wanted him to match the yellows in my paper pack.

I gave this puppy some spots.  I chose the blue background it looks like it makes him happy.

Ingredients:
Tim Holtz Sizzix Dog Talk stamp and die set
Tutti Designs Cross Stitch Nesting Square dies
American Crafts 6x6 basics paper pad
alcohol markers

If you follow all three parts of Double Trouble Challenge play along there and you are most likely eligible to enter in these challenges:  Try a Sketch On Tuesday and Crazy Critters Challenge.

Breakfast in New London layout for Sketches in Thyme

Welcome
I hope you are having a great day.  This breakfast in New London, CT was a great day.  I always oh and ah over sweet breakfast pastries.  But logic wins most of the time, I didn't have any of these delicious goodies.  I opted for an egg and cheese sandwich on croissant. We ate outside watching the water, not sure if I have posted my pages of the outside photos yet. Don't worry I will get to it soon.

I did a lot to this page. First I stamped and embossed the coffee cups.  Next I started on the background.  I stenciled coffee beans and stamped coffee rings.  Finally I splattered the background with shimmer spray.

I cut down the photos as small as would work and matted in brown card stock.  I trimmed the background card stock and matted on brown card stock.  I adhered the fussy cut coffee cups with pop dots. I finalized the layout with sticker letters for the title.

Ingredients:
Tim Holtz Coffee Time
Anna Griffin Chocolate ink
clear embossing powder
Coffee Ring stamp from stash
Stampin Up Chocolate Chip ink
Gina Marie Designs coffee stencil
Distress Ink Walnut Stain
Bazzill Gemstone card stock
Tattered Angels shimmer spray
Creative Memories sticker letters
brown card stock

Hot off the Press Steampunk and Guest Designing for Lasting Memories

Today is my final installment as guest designer for Lasting Memories Layout challenges.  This week's challenge is to use gold.  I tried to sprinkle several golden pieces into my layout of my bestie, Cyndi.

I dropped a brad in the center of this metal gear embellishment.  I layered it on top of a glitter flourish sticker. The sticker had multiple pieces and I layered gems on top of more of the pieces.

I did the same here adding Stampin Up Opaque Gems to the glitter flourish stickers by Momenta.I tucked a metallic gold doily behind Cyndi's photo.

I also created the gem embellishment.  I used a black die cut piece from my stash.  I found an oval die that fit perfectly behind the gem and on the existing die cut.  I have to remember which oval fits, I will use this combination again.  I cut that oval in a coordinating color and layered the gem and both die cuts.  It still needed something else.  I added some more gems to the ends.  I also distressed the die cuts with gold ink.

Ingredients:
Hot off the Press Steampunk paper pack
Creative Memories paper and card stock
Bo Bunny Et Cetera Brads
Stampin Up Gems
Momenta Black Glitter Flourish stickers
Spellbinders Class Oval Small die

Colorbox Sepia Black
Misc gems, doily and gears

Let Your Soulshine layout for Lasting Memories

Welcome to my second installment as guest designer for Lasting Memories.  I am continuing to work on my trip to Connecticut. This was on the train trip.  It was actually nice traveling with everything half full, there was always plenty of room to hang with our friends.  This week's challenge at Lasting Memories is to use "Olympic Rings" or at least five circles or rings on your layout.  I found this series of photos lent itself well to the circle frames.

I found the sun dies already in my stash from a previous project.  I am not sure they were intended to go together and the top sun was white.  I inked it up with some distress ink and popped it on dots on top of the other sun.  A perfect circle embellishment for a circle layout.

I finished off the layout with a large title taken from a song by our favorite band.  We were in Connecticut to see some of them.

Ingredients:
DCWV Stardust Stack
Misc papers and card stock
Brutus Monroe Decorative Details
Robin's Nest Tear Drops
Creative Memories Circle cutting system
Creative Memories sticker letters
Lawn Fawn Out of this world Sun die
another sun die
Tim Holtz Fossilized Amber Distress ink
Colorbox Sepia Black cat's eye ink

Don't forget to play along with Lasting Memories until the end of the month.

Tim Holtz 3D Skulls embossing with LED Light Up box

Hello and welcome to today's project.  I created this one for my husband to go in his music room.  I found the LED light box at work.  I thought I could make something cool and I think I did!  It was a simple project with great results.

This a photo without the lights on.

Here's a photo with the original light box and the insert I created.  I began by cutting the transparency to fit the box.  Then I inked up the film.  I used varying shades of blue and black Ranger Alcohol inks. Finally, I embossed the sheet with the Tim Holtz 3D Skulls folder.  The insert was larger than the folder, therefore, I ran the transparency through twice.

Here's another couple of shots of the unlit box. I inked the transparency first so as to not have the inks pool in the dimension after embossing.

Finally, another lit shot of the project.  My husband likes it and that is what matters.

Ingredients:
LED light box
Tim Holtz Sizzix 3D Skulls
Tim Holtz Ranger Alcohol inks
Transparency sheet cut to fit box

Tim Holtz Funky Foliage Thinking of You card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge

Hello today.  I am showing my latest inspiration for Atlantic Hearts challenge,  It's been quite a while since I really got to do some intricate paper piecing.  I had carpel tunnel surgery on my left hand in June and will be doing my right in November.  Therefore, my crafting has suffered.  I expect to be so much better after it's all over!  Anyway I locked myself in my craft room over the Labor Day weekend and really had a great time playing with this die set.

Here is the sketch.

Here is a side view of my cluster.  This die set has several layers to each image.  I used two different ivory papers, two different reds and three browns.

I stamped and embossed the sentiment on kraft card stock after die cutting into a pierced oval.  I finished the project with adhesive brown pearls.

Here is my project with some of the products I used to create it.  I purchased most of these items second hand.  Surprisingly, the two inks came from my favorite store Indigo Hippo.  You do have to be careful purchasing second hand inks.  I also purchased the stamp set there a couple of years ago. It's been a good one.

Ingredients:
Hero Arts Thinking of You clear stamps (over a year old)
Versacolor ink Bark
Judikins Chocolate Twinkle embossing powder
Versamagic chalk ink Sahara Sand
Tim Holtz Sizzix Funky Foliage
Tutti Designs Dotted Nesting Ovals
Queen & Co Bubbles Brown
misc papers and cardstock including Bazzill, kraft and pieces I treated with shimmer spray

Welcome to my blog today.  I have created a birthday card for my husband using this week's sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I used Kindred Stamps Galactic Hunter stamps and a background stamp.

Here is the sketch.

I had the galaxy background in my background stash.  I am using some iridescent film I recently acquired from a resale.  I think there are four or five different colors, this is the blue version.

Graphic 45 Little Things collection with Spectrum Noir Metallic Flip markers and Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog today.  I have my inspiration for the latest Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I have used some brand new stash Graphic 45 Little Things collection.  I ordered the 12x12 paper collection, ephemera, chipboard stickers and the stamp set.  Here I used the paper and the stamp set.

Here's the sketch.

I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Metallic Flip markers. If you look at the image from a different angle the color should look different, it does but it is hard to capture.

Here is the stamp set and markers with the finished card.

Ingredients:
Graphic 45 Little Things papers and stamps
Tim Holtz Sizzix Prize Ribbon die
Spellbinders circle die
Spectrum Noir Metallic Flip Markers

Stampin Up Give Thanks for all Things with Atlantic Hearts Sketch

Hello and welcome to November. It is now time to turn our attention from the festivities of Halloween to giving thanks for our blessings.  I have created a thankful card with the latest sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  This seemingly simple design involved a lot of die cutting.  The stripe in the middle is my first attempt at a Tim Holtz colorized die.

Here's the sketch.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.  I stamped and embossed then die cut on a Spellbinders oval and found the coordinating lacey oval die to frame it.

Details of my colorized die cuts..

So many tiny layers but in the end I feel they are designed to make as few pieces as possible to get exquisite detail.

A quick final note.  I woke up early this morning and went to watch some of the eclipse.  I meditated on the state of our country and I sent blessings to all for the best possible outcome for our democracy today.

Ingredients:
Stampin Up For All Things sentiment stamp
Colorbox Mix'd Media Leather pigment ink
Hampton Art Clear Embossing Powder
Spellbinders Decorative Elements Dies Lacey Ovals and Ovals
Tim Holtz Sizzix Woodgrain Colorize
paper from stash
