Vintage Dress Page for Sketches in Thyme

Hello and welcome to my blog on this happy holiday. I am posting my take on this weeks Sketches in Thyme sketch. I have so much to say about this layout. First of all my niece is just adorable and I love scrapping her photographs. Second, the subject matter. This baby is the 12th or 13th girl to wear this dress. It is over 50 years old.  It was my first Easter dress purchased prior to my birth.

Third, here's the sketch.  You can play along on the Sketches in Thyme Facebook Group.

I found this paper at a crafty yard sale.  It no longer had the cover page, so I can't be sure of the brand.  There were four or five designs from this stack included.  They were perfect for this layout and a couple of more I did of her, which will be revealed later.  I just happened to have a 6x6 stack of rose gold papers which perfectly matched the rose gold foil in that stack. Maybe the stack is DCWV as well?

I added some Jolee's little hands and Martha Stewart textured hearts along the gingham vellum circle.  I cut the circle using the large Creative Memories circle in the custom cutting system. On a few of the embellishments I layered some scrap ribbon.  I cut the large foil heart and background with a Stampin Up punch set.

Ingredients:
unknown paper collection
DCWV Solid Rose Golds 6x6
Martha Stewart White Dimensional Heart stickers
Jolee's By You hand die cuts
Stampin Up ribbon
vellum and white card stock
Creative Memories Custom Cutting System large circle red blade
Prima Lyric collection butterfly

misc embellishments
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink Feather Gray
Crafter's Square Metallic Marker Rose Gold? Copper?

Island Getaway Layout for Sketches in Thyme

Welcome to my latest Sketches in Thyme inspiration.  These photos of are myself and Tonya from The War and Treaty.  I don't often like to have my photo taken especially in my swimsuit but I could not resist the opportunity to meet this special woman.

Here is the sketch.

A close up of my cluster.  I used a swath of netting, paper flowers, die cut shells and starfish, real shells, stickers and a brad.

I die cut the scallop circle and used the CM custom cutting system on the rest.

I stamped this sentiment.

Creative Memories Diva layout

Hi bloggy friends...I just had to use a couple of pink pages in my wedding album and the "getting ready" pages were the perfect place to use pink!  I cracked open a very old paper pack which I have never used...I was hoarding but if my wedding album wasn't worth it, what is?

I used the Freaky Fast Formula from the The Scraproom Facebook page.

Here is a photo after I cut my sizes.  The smallest 12" strip is vellum.

Leafy Fall cards

I created another series of cards for a swap.  This one was a sketch swap and I was getting in the fall mood...that was last week, today not so much!  It's the first full day of autumn and it's 90 degrees!!!!  There are tons of leaves in my front yard from my black walnut tree...time for the kid to get raking!

Here's the sketch I used.
No automatic alt text available.

I used several different sentiments on the different variations.  Basically, I pulled out all my fall leaves from my stash.  I believe the leaves on the first two cards came from a fall swap years ago.  I inked the edges but the shimmer mist was already in place.

This set of leaves was from my Kiwi Lane DT days.  I loved the shimmer mist so much, I sprayed these leaves, too.  I embossed all my sentiments.

I ran out the appropriate sized leaves after these first three cards and I still needed more for my swap.  I found a Martha Stewart two layer punch and went to town with my scraps of orange, yellow and brown papers.  I also sprayed these with shimmer mist.

I hope I didn't bore you with so many pictures, they are all the same but still different!

Ingredients:
Martha Stewart punch
Kiwi Lane leaf templates
pre-cut tags
scrap papers
Recollections doilies
Our Daily Bread Designs double stitched rectangle dies
Tattered Angels shimmer mist
clear embossing powder
Anna Griffin chocolate ink
Close to My Heart stamps plus random from my stash
Quick Quotes Mocha Moma chalking ink

Distress Tie Dye technique with Technique Junkies

Today, I am playing with another Technique Junkies stamp that I purchased at Stampaway and using the same Tie Dye technique illustrated on their blog.  This time I used different distress inks for my tie dye.

Here's a close up of my coloring:

I told you next time I would show the difference between black ink and clear detail embossing powder (bottom) and black ink with an equal mix of clear and black detail embossing powder (top):

The mix is much bolder and doesn't get as muted by the inks.

Ingredients:
Distress inks:  Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves
Martha Stewart flowers
pearls
Colorbox Mix'd Media black ink
Judikins clear and black detail embossing powder
alcohol markers:  copic, prima, american craft
Spellbinders label
K & Co recycled purple paper
ribbon
Quick Quotes Purple Passion chalking ink

I was inspired to create a wood grain rabbit.  I complimented it with all sorts of embellishments and die cuts.  I also added my own pearls around the edge of the filigree die cut.

I used a wood grain paper for the rabbit and ran the white card stock through the Big Shot with a wood grain embossing folder.  The wood paper is the latest collection from Quick Quotes called Windsong.

Ingredients:
Tim Holtz mini bunny die and frame die (both movers and shapers)
