Today's project:

I have used my Cricut again, this time I went back to one of my first cartridges, Wild Card.  This card is actually the Mother's Day card.  I thought it hand an elegant~ness to it.  I thought I was pretty handy with my Cricut but this card was a mess.  I ruined 4 pieces of Bazzil Capers paper!  Ugh!  I won't make that mistake again!  So I went to Michael's and bought more, it was on clearance.  It is such a good green.  It was also one of the matching cardstock for the My Mind's Eye Festive and Frost which I used as the liner.  I also used another sheet of that paper stack in the Spellbinder's Label Four diecut underneath the stamped image.  My reindeer is a Stampin Up from 2002, not sure what set it was in as I purchased this with some random used stamps.  The inside sentiment is also a random used stamp.  I cut this at 5.25" as to fit 4 on a 12x12 sheet.  The cartridge has a matching envelope so size is not a problem.

I made 12 total.

I stamped this with American Craft pigment ink Brown Sugar and embossed it with Stamp n Stuff Kaleidoscope Transparent.  I inked the edges as well.  You can also see in this image where I used a Gelly roll pen in Clear Star to enhance the swirls.

Inside, I will write on the white.  The inside image is stamped with the same Brown Sugar but not embossed.  I should have done that!

I also tried a different paper Die Cuts with a View metallic green.  This one did not cut as well.  It was a very heavy cardstock and the layers separated when pulling it off the cutting mat.  I did use a brand new mat so it was pretty sticky.  Again, I am feeling like a failure with my Cricut!

Close up.

I would not say these were a total failure, but I sure wasted a lot of good paper!  In the end, I feel I came pretty close to my initial idea.  I wish I had some oval Spellbinders instead I cut my oval with the Creative Memories custom cutting system.  Layering the oval stamped image would have been nice. Thanks for hopping by and sharing my mistakes as well as my successes.

Next up is Lucy! http://love2createitall.com

  5. Alicia, it's not "you" ---- it's the Cricut or the mat. I don't know why it has to be so finicky but it is. It doesn't like intricate designs and match that up w/ a super sticky mat and then there's trouble. You'd think it would work better but the Cricut has a mind of its own!

Your cards are gorgeous! Love how you took a card base one wouldn't normally think to use as a Christmas card. I love discovering these things. TFS! :-)
