Peacock embossing folder card

Still working with these 11 embossing folders.  On this card, I cut the embossed part out and layered it with pop dots on top of the card base.  I water colored the peacock but since he is on a lavendar card stock the colors are a bit more muted.  I stamped the sentiment in the blank space....with my new MISTI!  I am so excited.  I picked it up on Friday afternoon but only found occasion to use it a few times over the weekend.

Side view.

Ingredients:
Darice embossing folder
Distress inks: Peacock feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Lucky Clover
Quick Quotes very berry chalking ink
Recollections bling
Recollections Sapphire pearl embossing powder
Mixed media Patina ink
HOTP sentiment stamp
fiber

Here is my haul from last Friday, I have been broke and haven't been shopping in ages (except for necessities like pop dots and white card stock).  I stopped by Tuesday Morning and only spent $10...nice haul for a 10 spot.

Here is the Most Incredible Stamping Tool Invented!!!  I told my son the name and he addresses it like it is my crafty friend MISTI, are you playing with MISTI?  LOL, he can be so funny! I spent $10 more dollars on top of the price of the MISTI and cleaner at my LSS, Stamping Buddies on Galbraith Rd in Cincinnati (if you are from around here). I prepaid for the MISTI on Monday and it was at the store on Friday.  All the MISTI's she ordered were spoken for but with such a great response, she said she will carry them.  I bought a new Lawn Fawn die and some clearance silk glitter paper.

I have a super neat project in the works for a swap with my MISTI, I can't wait to share!

Birthday Shaker Card and more embossing folder challenge

This is one of those folders that I just wasn't sure I would be able to use.  Not sure where it came from maybe part of a two pack?  Any way I thought my swap partner might like it but then I challenged myself to make something with it, that is how the whole challenge myself turned into 11 cards!!  I must say I thought out of the box and found a lovely way to use this folder.

The sentiment didn't turn out quite as good as I hoped.  By the time you read this I will have my new MISTI and stamping issues will be a thing of the past!  YIPPEE!

Ingredients:
Skipping Stone Designs Sentiment
Sparkle and Sprinkle one of a kind embossing powder
fuse pocket

CTMH Typed Note card with Sizzix embossing folder

I am keeping most of the cards for my embossing folder challenge CAS.  I love this stamp set from CTMH.  When flipping through my embossing folder file I knew as I saw this one I had to use the two together.  Just a simple stamp and emboss for the typewriter but I left the sentiment un-embossed to give it more of an typed feel.  Typing is one  of the best skills I ever learned, I have really wanted my son to learn but this generation...it's not a thing.  The keyboard he uses is on his phone and well you don't use all your fingers on that one.  My the world has changed!

I purchased a 12x12 pack of 25 sheets of this metallic paper, it is not really shiny but more of a brushed silver and let me tell you I have used this paper over and over again.  It was a great score from Tuesday Morning.  It embosses so well, too!

Ingredients:
CTMH Typed Note
Judikins black detail embossing powder
Brilliance Graphite Black
Sizzix embossing folder
metallic paper and black card stock
pop dots

Quick Quotes Altered Letter K

Good morning Quick Quotes readers, Alicia blogging today.  I have an altered chipboard letter I made for my step son.  He graduated this year, I hope he takes this to college with him.

I started by choosing my paper.  Then I traced the K on the back of the paper I choose.  I turned my K upside down so that my template came out correctly.  After cutting my K out of the paper I chalked up all the edges of the chipboard with Navy PowderPuff Chalking Ink.  I suggest doing this after tracing you template since you the chalk may take a minute to dry on the chipboard.

The fun part was cutting a bunch of gears out of various papers and chalking them up with coordinating inks.  I added the brads to the center and adhered to my paper K. There were some with gear holes too big for the brads. I just added the brad to the paper then taped the gear down around it.  I then used a combination of adhesives for adhering the paper to the chipboard K.  I used mostly tape, some glue dots under the brads and a bit of liquid glue just along the edges to make sure the paper didn't come up. I find using too much liquid glue can leave wrinkles and bumps sometimes when drying.  Here are some close ups of my gears:

I die cut some chipboard with my easel die to make this guy stand up. Finally, one sweep around with my Navy PowderPuff Chalking Ink to give it all a finished look.

Chief Feathers Listen to the Wind...embossing challenge post #2

Welcome to my second embossing folder post.  This card was my son's idea.  When he saw the arrows embossed on the kraft, he said you need a tee pee stamp.  Well, I didn't have a tee pee but I did have a few Native American choices and this stamp came from the way back...paired with a brand newer sentiment I won from Our Daily Bread Designs recently.  I saved my gift certificate until after I visited their booth at Mega meet.  This stamp set Wander and Dream was on sale on their website.

I thought that awesome sentiment was perfect for this card.  I found the Jenni Bolin chipboard feathers that have been in my stash a while pretty sure they came from Mega Meet years ago, I stamped a couple with versamark and embossed them with clear bark (same as the sentiment) and inked the other with close to cocoa (same as Chief Feathers).  My son is in love, he couldn't wait for me to take the picture so he can have this card.

Ingredients:
Artist Outpost Wander and Dream
Acey Duecy Chief Feathers
Stampin Up Close to Cocoa
Quick Quotes Milk Chocolate
Recollections clear bark embossing powder
versamark ink
Jenni Bolin chip board feathers
Sizzix embossing folder
Stampin Up punch

Embossing Folders: Challenging myself! Sunny Day card

I am challenging myself today.  I am participating in a partnered swap of embossing folders with Angela.  We are to send 10 embossing folders, I made a bonus one.  We are also to make one card using one of the embossing folders and send that as well.  I decided to challenge myself to create a card with each of the embossing samples I made Angela. Here are the 11 pieces I created.

I used one of the folders already on card for My Favorite Things slider challenge.

I cut four 4.25x5.5 pieces from each sheet.  I made two each of two different embossing folder with each sheet.  Here is the other design I used with blue paper. On this one I used clouds and paired it with a Spellbinders stamp and die set.  I love clouds on an embossing folder so much, I own three!  They are all very different.  I also love clouds on stamps and dies as you may can tell.  Very simple but bright and sunny, perfect for the sentiment!

I popped up the stamped and die cut clouds.  I won this set from a FB giveaway a year or so ago and I have used it so much.  It was one of those giveaways where you tag a friend, so my bloggy friend Sue won the exact same set! I wonder if she has used it as much as I have?

Ingredients:
Spellbinders Sunny Days stamp and die set
Stampin Up Summer Sun and Pacific Point
Quick Quotes Blue Moon chalking ink
misc card stock
Stampin Up cloud embossing folder

My Favorite Things Camp Create Glitter challenge with Heartfelt Creations Peacock

This is my final post completing all 5 challenges for My Favorite Things Camp Create.  I also followed a few other challenges including the color challenge at Your Next Stamp and the sketch from Crazy 4 challenges.  I tried to glitter it all up see the previous post for my owl failure.  So I went with what I knew this time.  I used a glue pen and sprinkled glitter on top.

YNScolor-41

Here's the card I created.  I did step it up a little by using two different color glitters.  First I put on the lavender on all the flowers in certain areas and the center of the peacock feather.  Then a simple crystal just to highlight the peacock details on the wings and top of the head.

A side view of the glitter.

Here's my work in progress after water color before glitter.

Ingredients:
Versamark ink
Recollections Sapphire Pearl embossing powder
Heartfelt Creations Paisley Peacock and Delightful Daisies

Quick Quotes Brandywine chalking ink
K & Co recycled paper pad purples and violets
Sizzix die

My Favorite Things Camp Create Slider card

Still playing along at My Favorite Things.  This card plays along with the Sensational Sliders challenge. I also continued with the water coloring with distress inks.  Water coloring was Wednesday's challenge but since I am doing them backwards...this is Tuesday's challenge.

I had fun water coloring with distress inks.

Ingredients:
Dylusions Clearly Under the Sea stamps (new to me)
Distress Inks: Blueprint Sketch, Hickory Smoke, Mermaid Lagoon, Fossilized Amber, Crushed Olive, Seedless Preserves
Clear Wink of Stella
Stampin Up punch (to create the slider channel)
misc card stock (blue)
Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder (old one of my very first)
pennies and pop dots

I have one more technique which is not going so well.  First try was a failure!  And I watched the video!  I much prefer a glitter paper, where you don't have to deal with this mess!  Great hint from the video was to use swiffer inserts.  I hope I am back tomorrow with the final project!?!

My Favorite Things Camp Create Partial Die cutting card

Good afternoon readers, I know two post in one day!  But I have 5 different challenges to post in the next couple of days, before the deadline over at My Favorite Things for their Camp Create challenges.

After making two shaker cards, I decided I should only make one for each of the challenges.  So this is my first ever try at partial die cutting.  I already know several things I will do better next time. This one is another CAS as I was trying to get through the techniques and kept in my this was camp and my project didn't have to be perfect.  I am OCD so it is a bit hard to deal with.

For this particular card, I would make the "sky" more of the card and the attached part less.  A MISTI is on my wish list, that would have made a much better impressions.  You can barely see the clouds in the background.  I did love the textured yellow papers I used for the sun and inked up with Quick Quotes chalking inks.

I noticed that you can't exactly tell that this is a partial cut because I die cut the exact cut all the way through in yellow and placed it on top.

Ingredients:
Spellbinders Persian Motifs
Impression Obsession clouds stamp
Recollections Vintage Blue ink
Close to my heart Rain or Shine sentiment
Stampin Up Crushed Curry
Creative Imaginations brad
misc textured papers and white card stock
Quick Quotes Desert Sun and Rusty Nail
