I have several graduation parties this year.  So I thought I might as well play with my Cricut.  I cut several images, not all of them turned out. My first card wasn't perfect but I think the recipient will like it.  I used her school colors.  I thought the addition of the lace was feminine.

I used the sketch I saw for the front panel:

Details of embossing:

The inside is the fun part!  My first pop up with this cart.  I had to find a video on youtube to put it together.

I added some fun details like the diploma for the "one", I saw that on Pinterest, I thought it was so cute.  I also colored the tassel with Wink of Stella.  The final touch was some embroidery floss on the tassel.

Ingredients:
Mix'd Media Denium ink
Recollections Sapphire pearl embossing powder
Stampin Up Tagtastic sentiment
Colorbok sticker letters
Creative Memories sticker
Bazzill card stock
Wink of Stella blue
white floss
Quick Quotes Midnight Confessions chalking ink
Cricut Everyday Pop Up cards images
fiber
blue pearls

It was pretty simply so I added this sentiment inside also in blue.

Quick Quotes Mother's Day Gatefold Variation Card

Good morning!  Quick Quotes readers, Alicia here today with a Mother's Day card using the Chiffon collection.  I wanted to create something a little different so I searched Youtube and found this neat gatefold.  The center square was just perfect to try out a new flower die.  I love creating layered flowers with different patterned papers.    I thought the pearls from a leftover Club Q made the perfect finishing touch.

To create this variation on a gatefold:
  • Cut a piece of paper 7.25" x 4.75" and score at 4.75"
  • Cut a piece of paper 7.5" x 3.75" and score at 3.75"
  • Adhere smaller piece in center of square base
  • Cut various paper pieces to layer and decorate front

The first photo is with the center panel open and the second is both panels open.  I just love how neat this looks!  I stamped Happy Mother's Day on the inside with Light Moss PowderPuff Chalking Ink.

Quick Quotes products used:
pearls from a past Club Q

other products used:
Spellbinders Anemone flower topper die and foliage die
Close to my Heart sentiment
pearls

I made another card on shimmer card stock using the same dimensions but blue papers from the Chiffon collection.  I added some flourish vines to this version.  Tip: remember to keep the center piece fold on the left clear so that it opens easily.

I didn't add a sentiment to this card yet. I may save this one for later.

Quick Quotes products:

other products used:
white shimmer card stock
Spellbinders Anemone flower topper die and foliage
Tim Holtz Sizzix movers and shapers flourish die
Stampin Up 7/8" scallop circle punch

"You are my True North" Sketch N Scrap card sketch

I don't typically create for the card on the 5th of the month for Sketch N Scrap but I created one this month because I loved this sketch so much.  Here's the sketch:

I made mine a masculine version.  I started with the compass paper and pulled the colors of the banners from the golden, greens and browns.  The brown banner and background paper in this photo is the reverse side of the compass if you can't tell it is dirt.

That was the first card.  I did another with a green mat.  The compass paper was cut down from a 12x12 sheet, so the paper on this card is cut from the same corner as above but subsequent ones are a little different pattern.

Close up of the fragments.

I loved this card so much I made several for a "masculine" swap.  I figured they would be good for Father's Day or any occasion.  I places the fragments in different areas depending on the paper cut.

Another one:

A close up of this fragment...they look so much neater in person.

Ingredients:
The Paper Studio Compass paper
Tim Holtz fragments
Stamplorations True North sentiment stamp
Stampin Up label punch
Anna Griffin chocolate ink
Judikins clear embossing powder
sentiment is stamped on a paper called Sand and Sea I think? I was using up a scrap
Quick Quotes Mahogany chalking ink
glossy accents to adhere the fragments

May the Fourth be with you Blog Hop

Welcome to the

where we will celebrate all things Star Wars related.

Whether it's a card, scrapbook page, party plan or quilt, it's related to

the Star Wars franchise in some way and we want to share it with you.

So in a galaxy far, far away there's a crafter working tirelessly to
create some movie magic for you...now on with the projects at hyper speed.

These are couple of layouts from our 2011 Free Comic Book Day.  I purchased these Star Wars papers from a closing LSS.  Always so sad, this one actually closed years ago and I finally got around to scrapping these pics and using my long hoarded papers.

I spritzed the botton layer with some Tattered Angels to add some interest and tone down the red paper.  I left the photo mat pristine so it pops.

I added some black punched stars for interest.

Money saving tip:  I cut these embellishments from the reverse side of this paper behind where I put the picture since I only had one sheet and no embellishments.  I decided which blocks I wanted to cut out then placed my pic on top of that blank space.  I did make sure it wasn't too close to the edge and was positioned in a decent place.  I call that stretching the paper!  I added just a bit of black and silver card stock to finish it off.

Ingredients:
Tattered Angels black magic
Creative Imagination Star Wars paper Black Armor and ?
Silver, red and black card stock
Quick Quotes midnight confession chalking ink
star punch

Be sure to comment on each blog in today's hop to be entered into the drawing for a
$10 Stampin' Up Gift Certificate given away by our hop host and Stampin' Up Independent Demonstrator Theresa Knopf.

UP NEXT is Sarah!

Thanks for flying by today.
Here's the line-up in case you end up on the wrong planet (I mean blog):

Thanks!

Creative Memories Simply Beautiful May Flowers layout

Happy May!  Today  we start a month long birthday celebration at Sketch N Scrap!  And I give you a very pretty layout with May flowers...as you can tell these are very tropical flowers from my honeymoon in Jamaica.  I used Creative Memories Simple Beautiful power palette.  There are advantages to using a collection.  The colors match perfectly and there are titles, sentiments and embellishments.  The only thing I added were pearls and edging all the pieces with Quick Quotes chalking ink in Milk Chocolate.

Here's the sketch:
As you can see, I flipped it to accommodate the directions of my photos.

Details:

I love how CM stickers are usually transparent.  I just used them as they were because I like the blue paper as background.  If you didn't like the color, etc. you could put it on a color or white card stock you like and fussy cut.

Ingredients:
Creative Memories Simply Beautiful collection
Quick Quotes milk chocolate chalking ink
pearls
