Quick Quotes and Xyron Blog Hop

Alicia here today playing with the latest Quick Quotes papers, Winter Bliss, and Xyron adhesive products.  What a fantastic combination!  I must confess I did not own a Xyron Sticker Maker although I have seen them around forever and often told myself, I need one.  I am so excited to now own one!  I found it a breeze to use while creating this snowy layout.

Here's how to use the "X":
  1. Ink up your item with Quick Quote PowerPuff Chalking inks
  2. Place item face up into the Xyron 1.5" sticker maker "X"
  3. Pull adhesive sheet through until item appears
  4. Tear off adhesive strip
  5. Burnish (rub) item
  6. Remove clear top layer

The sticker maker was awesome when it came to adhering all those little snowflakes and letters.  I just put each item in the sticker maker and pulled a little and added the next one.  I also used the smooth gliding Xyron Adhesive Runner for the rest of the layout.

Here are some details of my layout.  I wanted to use every one of the beautiful and wintery fresh papers from Winter Bliss so I did (except 105 which I hoarded for another project)!  I used lots of shapes and cutting tools to create the various layers of papers.  I topped with snowflake die cuts that you will see in the November Club Q, some enamel dots and a few doodles with a pen.

Bo Bunny #Foreveryoung Girl layouts

I am still only one page away from finishing my album.  I have a few more post to go...this is a couple of pages I created.  No sketch, no inspiration except flow with the prior page.  I used this Bo Bunny collection for several girl layouts of my nieces so I just decided to keep rolling with it.

I softened this one of the youngest up a bit with a doily and a pretty border punch.

Ingredients:
Bo Bunny #Foreveryoung papers and embellishments

It's Alive, Cricut Mini Monsters card

Another card I was able to whip up this weekend.  I actually made the cuts a couple of weeks back when Mini Monster was the Cricut freebie of the week.  I have used this cart in the past when I had a free subscription to Design Space and I just loved it!  When I saw it was free for the week, I went to town.  I made over 20 cuts so be looking for some more Halloween Cricut inspiration this week!

Here's the sketch from Paper Play Sketches:
I was also using up lots of scraps from my Halloween stash.  Most of these paper scraps are no longer labeled.

Ingredients:
Cricut Mini Monster cuts
Tattered Angels Almost Black & Kiwi spray inks
Creative Memories circle cutter
American Craft black chalk board pen (lost some of the eyes so it was easier to draw them)
misc cardstock and papers including chalkboard, glitter, etc.

Exploring Family History Blog Hop with Scraps by Gracie

October 22

Welcome to the Exploring Family History blog hop.  We are creating crafts related to our family history.  Most of us would agree when began paper crafting to create a historical record of our and for our families.  Of course, we love to get inky and sticky while doing it so let's dig into our crafty family history projects.

But first, we would like to say a HUGE THANKS to our sponsor today.

Theresa is giving away a $20 Stampin' Up Gift Certificate to one lucky winner AND
take 10% off any order placed through her (not available on website) by October 31th.
Email her at scrapsbygracie AT gmail.com with your order.

All you have to do to win this fabulous prize is comment on each of the blogs.
That's it! It really is easy.
Of course, we would love it if you became a follower too.

Comment buttons can be found at the bottom of the post (on most of the blogs).
Now on with the hop!

I created a digital invite for a family reunion.  I included a picture of the my great grandparents.  I was so lucky enough to know them very well.  My grandpa lived until his 90's and grandma lived more than 10 years without him and passed from pneumonia at 104. Actually, my son even got to meet her but he was just a baby. This was my mother's mother's parents.  I never knew my grandmother she was their oldest child and passed before I was born.  A couple of her siblings have passed in the last year or so and now there's only one of my mother's aunts left.  She is about my mother's age, my great grandmother was still having children when her oldest (my grandmother) was having her own family.

My mother was the organizer of this event and most of the relatives are on Facebook so I created a FB cover photo version for the event page.  I used the same paper and ribbon but had more room to add more embellishments.

Ingredients:
Creative Memories Reminisce Digital kit
Antique Attic font

Next up is Sue!

Quick Quotes Mini Reserve in Toledo

Good morning QQ readers, Alicia blogging today about the recent Quick Quotes Mini Reserve I recently attended in Toledo, OH.  What a fantastic weekend!  I had a blast.  I returned to the same venue with some of the same friends, it's becoming a tradition.  I also made new friends while learning some innovative techniques.  I was able to shop and supplement my current Quick Quotes stash.  The weekend was jam packed with projects and some playtime during the crop.

There were lots of prizes to be had...at the crop we played games with all these ribbons and some petroleum jelly but you will have to see that one for yourself! There were scrappy contest for both layouts and mini albums as well as a photography contest.  Everyone left with prizes!

Here are some pictures of the goodies I acquired.  The first one is the 20 page album and kit.  The second picture includes the bag and the projects from the second day including a couple of altered projects and more page kits.  The bottom left is the bonus pack, in my opinion a necessity.  For only $40 the pack includes some more page kits and extra papers for stretching out the leftover words and embellishments from the other kits to create many more pages.  And the final photo is of all my winnings and goody bag contents.  I won a couple of extra altered kits for winning the layout contest and coming in second in the mini albums.

When I got back home I immediately used some of the pages to finish a vacation album.  I was so excited to have these beautiful pages ready to just fill with photos.  The details are awesome!

I love this layout and the best part is it came with optional titles!  I will be using the extras because I loved them all.  The chipboard is so versatile by using Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking inks you can change the color so easily.

I just love the chipboard accents in this page kit as well.  The ribbon balances the filigree perfectly.

I would highly recommend attending a Private Reserve  or Mini Reserve near you.  I learned some great techniques, made an album's worth of pages, and created some beautiful altered projects.  All of which I put to immediate use back at home.  It was a productive, informative, creative and fun filled weekend I won't soon forget!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells with Sketch N Scrap card sketch

Welcome to the last of our regular card sketches this month at Sketch N Scrap.  I am getting in the Halloween mood.  I created a textured, spooky card using several Graphic 45 supplies and chunky embossing powder.

Here's the sketch:

at an angle:

I just love this Recollections aged black embossing powder, it is pretty thick so it is not good for detail but it is such a pretty distressed look.  I believe it is discontinued, I am glad embossing powders go a long way.

Ingredients:
Graphic 45 Stamps (at least a year old) and Steampunk Spells 6x6 pad
Brilliance Graphite Black
Wow! clear detail embossing powder
Recollections rose and border stickers
Recollections Aged Black embossing powder and Splat! stamp set (4 years old or more)
Inkadinkado Circles and dots stamps (4 years or more)
Fiskars border punch
Spellbinders label one
misc paper
