On Wednesday's we wear black... Hero Arts Paper Doll

The wait is finally over and on Wednesday's we wear black!!!  I own ALL the Hero Arts Lifestyle dies series, they are basically paper doll pieces that came in several themed sets.  If you are a follower of my blog, you will know how much I love paper piecing. So this die set is one of my absolute favorites.  I have only used it once. I made paper dolls of my besties that was over two years ago!  I never even posted them. My Wednesday was of course created  in anticipation of today. It's taken way to long to get a second season of this show.

I used hair from two different sets to create her look. I colored the face stamp with ink pens to get lip and eye color different.

The boots are from the Victorian Lady die set.  Most of Wednesday's dress is from the Trick or Treat set but the boots in that set were a bit too "witchy".  I cut the collar in two and manipulated the pieces a bit to create the cuffs. I cut the legs in black to create the tights.

Stampin Up Tree Rings with Hero Arts Mushrooms & Ferns for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog today.  I created this beauty as soon as the embossing folder and dies arrived from Stampin Up.  However, they sent me the wrong stamp set, so I had to make do with another sentiment.  I also added dies from Hero Arts.

Here is the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge sketch:

I die cut in primarily white/off white and used distress inks to color the die cuts.

The embossing here is very three dimensional so I went ahead and put a foam dot underneath to keep the dimension.  I also dotted the white dots of the red mushroom with a white gel pen to make them pop.

Ingredients:
Stampin Up Tree Rings embossing folder and dies
Hero Arts Fancy Dies Mushrooms and Ferns
Tim Holtz Ranger Distress inks:  Fired Brick, Hickory Smoke, Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo
Brutus Monroe Enchanted Forest stamps
Stampin Up gems
White gel pen
misc papers

Hero Arts You're a Fungi with Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge

Welcome to my blog today and my latest Atlantic Hearts challenge inspiration card.  I recently purchased this paper pad and embellishment pack.  I can't remember where, Target?  Ollies?  I am trying to think where I was shopping before Xmas.  I loved it, I even got my friends some of this adorable paper.  I adore mushrooms and found this sentiment to be the perfect size to die cut.

Here is this week's sketch.

I stamped the sentiment in Tip Top Taupe and cut it out with a die.  I popped it up to allow for the twine underneath.  Finally I adhered the chipboard sticker to the top of the sentiment.

Ingredients:
Violet Studios 6x6 paper and chipboard stickers
Hero Arts You're a Fungi stamp set
Stampin Up Tip Top Taupe
Stampin Up Sizzix Apothecary Accents die
misc cardstock
Colorbox Chestnut Roan cat's eye ink
twine

Tim Holtz Funky Foliage Thinking of You card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge

Hello today.  I am showing my latest inspiration for Atlantic Hearts challenge,  It's been quite a while since I really got to do some intricate paper piecing.  I had carpel tunnel surgery on my left hand in June and will be doing my right in November.  Therefore, my crafting has suffered.  I expect to be so much better after it's all over!  Anyway I locked myself in my craft room over the Labor Day weekend and really had a great time playing with this die set.

Here is the sketch.

Here is a side view of my cluster.  This die set has several layers to each image.  I used two different ivory papers, two different reds and three browns.

I stamped and embossed the sentiment on kraft card stock after die cutting into a pierced oval.  I finished the project with adhesive brown pearls.

Here is my project with some of the products I used to create it.  I purchased most of these items second hand.  Surprisingly, the two inks came from my favorite store Indigo Hippo.  You do have to be careful purchasing second hand inks.  I also purchased the stamp set there a couple of years ago. It's been a good one.

Ingredients:
Hero Arts Thinking of You clear stamps (over a year old)
Versacolor ink Bark
Judikins Chocolate Twinkle embossing powder
Versamagic chalk ink Sahara Sand
Tim Holtz Sizzix Funky Foliage
Tutti Designs Dotted Nesting Ovals
Queen & Co Bubbles Brown
misc papers and cardstock including Bazzill, kraft and pieces I treated with shimmer spray

Waffle Flower Snail card with Atlantic Hearts Sketch

Hello dear readers, I am playing with some new dies today. I recently purchased this set from Scrapbook.com.  I have made a few orders from that site lately.  There is so much to choose from they just have everything on my wish list and more!  Back to the task at hand, building this adorable card using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch 516. The squares in the background posed a bit of an issue, they could not be perfectly square on an A2 card.  The card base is based on the squares size of 1.75" x 1.75".

Here is the sketch.

Here is a close up of my snail.  I inlaid the eye and cheek from cuts using the tiniest scraps.  I used some super pretty and thin iridescent film therefore I layered it on a white circle.  The spiral is cut from an alcohol ink scrap I had on my desk.

I stamped the sentiment on a Kindred Stamps sentiment strip, I love these! I used some A muse ink for the first time and loved it.

Ingredients:
Waffle Flower Snail Trio dies
Hero Arts You're a Fungi
A muse Grape ink
Kindred Stamps Sentiment Strip dies
papers from my stash
iridescent film

Hero Arts Unicorn and glitter rainbows with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Hello, once it again it's time for my take on the current Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I chose a literal interpretation of the Unicorn and Rainbows theme.  Now I just have to find a little person which to send it.

Here's the sketch.

Washi tape would have been ideal for this project but I didn't have any glitter washi.  I used red lined tape to keep the thick American Craft in place on the card.

I stamped the image on vellum and colored the back side with alcohol markers.  Except the horn which was a glitter pen.

Ingredients:
Hero Arts Stamp set
Ancient Page Archival Black ink
Stampin Up markers- Mauve Mist, Positively Pink and Going Grey
Glitter Pen (horn)
American Craft glitter ribbon
vellum, white card stock, pink shimmer card stock

Sympathy card for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Good morning. welcome to my inspiration for this week's Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I used materials from several different manufacturers.  My idea began with the Heartfelt Creations leafy branches.  I stamped, embossed, cut and inked these pieces. After all that I shaped them with my fingers.  I think the effort is worth it.  I hope this card makes someone feel special, whomever may receive it in the future.

Here's the sketch:

I liked the soft colors in the Quick Quotes Spring Showers collection. I stamped and embossed my sentiment then die cut for the center piece.

A side view showing the dimension from shaping.

Another close up view of my leaves.

Ingredients:
Quick Quotes Spring Showers paper collection
Heartfelt Creations Open Leaf stamps and classic leaf die
Anna Griffin Chocolate ink with clear embossing powder
Spellbinders Labels Thirty-eight
Hero Arts Caring Thoughts F1030 sentiment stamp
Versamark ink and Recollections Pesto Pearl embossing powder
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalkng inks:  Cactus and Green with Envy

Shoot for the moon!

Hello, Alicia here today with a pretty card of encouragement. I chose to keep the background colors varying shades of dark blue like the night sky. I think the colors keep this card gender neutral as well. I found a scrap of this wonderful textured silver paper from which to cut my moon and stars. I also used a new helpful tool, the Tutti Designs Metal Adapter Plate. It makes the details of fine dies like the moon from Cheery Lynn Designs Hippie Heroine very distinct. All the bits and pieces just fell out of the die, very little weeding is needed.

After die cutting the panels with my new Frantic Stamper Stitched Corner cut Tags , I felt the card needed a little more, so I used the Cheery Lynn Designs Mandala Doily 1 to make a cut with the scrap silver paper. I didn't need to cut the entire die since I only need four "loops" to accent my corners. I cut the "loops" apart and tucked them behind the cut corners. The bohemian details of the moon are accentuated beautifully with the doily accents.
