4 Crafty Chicks Crazy Egg Challenge

Good morning!  Today is my final appearance as Guest Designer at 4 Crafty Chicks and this week is Crazy Egg Challenge or Anything Goes!  I made these cards for a swap using Quick Quotes Farmhouse papers and Stampin Up Four Feathers set.

I used an ombre technique to ink the feathers with Quick Quotes Powder Puff Chalking inks.  The first one is two shades of green.

I love the Sunset and Seafoam set of feathers.

The final version has a hint of blue sky along with the Seafoam and a darker tap of Sunset.  I inked all the edges in black for uniformity.  I really enjoyed making this set.  It was simple and used up some scraps.  A win, win!

 Ingredients:
Quick Quotes Farmhouse papers
Quick Quotes Midnight Confessions, Seafoam, Sunset, Sky Blue, and Evergreen inks
Stampin Up Four Feathers stamps and dies

Live for the Moments...Quick Quotes Hiking layout

Good morning, Alicia blogging today.  I have a layout from a hiking adventure I took a couple of years ago.  The photo doesn't do justice to the majestic beauty at Red River Gorge in Kentucky.  This is a massive stone outcropping along the trail side deep in a ravine.  I used the Urban Oasis and Earth Wind Fire collections to scrap this wonderful photo of a great memory.

I fussy cut some scrap papers from this collection and created lots of the "crazy circles" to pop up and add around my layout. I cut some pieces from the sentiment sheet, Earth Wind Fire 500 paper.  I inked all the edges of my new circles and the card stock sentiments.

I also fussy cut some flourishes and tucked them underneath.  I used a banner behind the title to tie all my clusters and fussy cut pieces together.

Navy PowderPuff Chalking Ink

This is the last page I completed but I am using it for my first page of my album, do you ever do that?

DCWV Green Stack with Stuck?! sketch

Yet another layout using DCWV Green Stack and my final pics from our Memorial Day camping trip (2 years ago).  This is Sky Bridge which is easily accessible from the road.  The short hike is only about a mile to cross it, go under it and back up.  However, it is a mountain and there are steps, overall it was not a hard one, we even took the dog.  He didn't like the steps back up as they were grated metal.

Here's the sketch:

I have most of the accessories for the DCWV Green Stack including at least two sets of the chipboard embellishments.

More details including the Frantic Stamper stitched banner die cuts.  I love the yellow jute twine tucked behind.   I just purchased it was in a pack with 3 other earthy colors.  I have used the pack several times already.

Ingredients:
DCWV Green Stack
jute cord
Frantic Stamper stitched banner die
Quick Quotes Amaretto chalking ink
brads and enamel dots

4 Crafty Chicks Sunflower Challenge: Graphic 45 Pocket letter

Good morning, today is Thursday so it is time for a new challenge over at 4 Crafty Chicks.  I have loved being a guest designer this month and I am a lucky one...there are five Thursday's this month, so I will be bringing you one more final project next week.  This week's project is Sunflowers. This is my first pocket letter.  I watched some you tube tutorials and started cutting 2.5"x3.5".  I really like the idea of shaker pocket.  I used my fuse tool to seal the center pocket after adding sequins.

I purchased a pack of 25 sheets of this paper at Tuesday Morning, I mean who doesn't love sunflowers right? I thought I would use up all these pieces, I haven't yet but I made 2 of these letters.  They are pretty much identical which is why I could take a picture of the back and front at once.  I made these for a pocket letter swap.

I added some stickers, eyelets, wooden embellishments and brads to the back of the pockets.

I didn't do too much stamping on this set but I did add this happy little sentiment from Stampin Up.

Ingredients:
Graphic 45 Happy Haunting Enchanted Garden paper
Graphic 45 flourish stamp
Ranger black onyx ink
Stampin Up Badges and Banners stamps and punch
Stampin Up Summer Sun ink
Spellbinders Phrases One die
Creative Memories tag punch
Fiskars Butterfly punch
Jolee's, Mrs. Grossman's, and Momenta stickers and embellishments
Quick Quotes Midnight Confession chalking ink
black sheer ribbon
sequins
ginger tea

Butterfly Napkin Cards

Hello, I promised a while ago I would show off some more of my napkin cards and how I created them.  The first card is here if you want to go back and take a look.  I created these for a card swap.  I had never tried the technique but have been wanting to for some years.

Here's a close up.

Here is how I made the napkin pieces:
  • Separate the napkin into the thinnest piece possible and cut into manageable pieces.  There are usually at least three layers.
  • Run an A2 (or any size you chose) piece of white card stock through the Xyron.
  • Adhere the napkin to the sticky side of your card stock and smooth out any wrinkles.
  • Run the piece through the Xyron once again with the adhesive on top of the decorative side.
  • Carefully remove the sticky napkin and sprinkle with fine clear glitter (or try a color?)
  • Press down/rub to really get good adhesion and shake off any excess glitter.
  • Trim your glitter napkin card stock piece to the desired size (or shape~try die cutting!)

I layered the glitter napkin on some colored card stock.  I finished my cards up with some die cut pieces, a stamped sentiment and a 3-D butterfly sticker.

Another close up.  The turned out so pretty.

Ingredients:
Xyron machine and supplies
napkin and glitter
K & Co butterfly sticker
Tim Holtz Sizzix grunge die
The Stamp Doctor sentiment
Versamark ink
Recollections purple metallic embossing powder
Kiwi Lane template
white and pink shimmer card stock
Quick Quotes pink chalking ink

Sketches in Thyme with The Paper Loft

And another layout of my Red River Gorge Memorial Day camp out...and another sketch.

I turned this sketch to accommodate my photo direction.  I changed the lines of bling to banners.  I learned this tip along time ago:  adhere your stickers to some card stock and fussy cut.  It adds a consistent background for outstanding color vibrancy and enables you to pop up the sticker as I did for the tent and raccoon.

Ingredients:
The Paper Loft Hooked on Fishing and Huckleberry Pond
Creative Memories camping stickers
Stampin Up banner punch
twine
sticker letters

The Paper Loft with June Rewind sketch

I know I am using this paper a lot lately.  I pulled it out to finish this camping trip album and it worked perfectly for the Father's Day cards I was making.  This layout is one of my favorites.  I turned the sketch to make it work with my photos.

Here's the sketch I used:

This was just a wonderful camp spot!

Ingredients:
The Paper Loft Huckleberry Pond and Hooked on Fishing
Frantic Stamper cut corner tag die
Jolee's fly fishing embellishments
Kiwi Lane Brackets 2 template
misc tag stickers
wooden gems
twine and burlap ribbon

Last Mojo Monday with a Gorjuss Mermaid

Good afternoon, I hope you have had a good Father's Day.  I have been organizing and cleaning today.  I have all my design team projects caught up so I thought I would take the day to get some things in order.  I recently had some lights to go out and purchased some new ones.  So I was under the table crawling around moving stuff to tuck all the wires away.  I am really happy with them.  They are the Ottlite LED clone clip lamp.  I got them for $20 at Tuesday Morning, about $5 cheaper than the 50% off I saw at either Joann's or Michael's this past week.  I have another score from this weekend, I will tell you about soon.

So I made this sweet thing a few days ago with several challenges in mind but foremost the final Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

It is a bittersweet farewell to be joining in the final Mojo Monday sketch challenge and #500 at that! what a way to leave blogland.  One of the first sketch blogs I followed, they will be missed.  Here's there sketch:

I don't do much coloring but I participate in a secret sister swap and my sister this round sent me this precious stamp.  I just had to use it.  I colored her a while ago and just decided she would go great as the center piece to this sketch.  I inked the background with a few distress inks to mimic the ocean and beach.  I love the snippet of Quick Quotes Adventure Awaits paper I found for the die cut, it kind of looks like kelp.

Products used:
Gorjuss Awashed Mini #31
Quick Quotes Adventure Awaits scraps
washi tape
Our Daily Bread Designs Stitched Rectangle die
various alcohol markers:
Copic E00, E21, V000

Call of the Wild with Tim Holtz die

Good morning!  Happy Father's Day to any male readers I might have!  I hope it is a good day for all!  I have another masculine card today.  I enjoy making masculine cards all the time but with the holiday I have created several lately.  I have several outdoorsy men in my life.  I think my son will love this one.

My husband did NOT like this die cut.  He was very bothered that it was not symmetrical.  I like symmetrical but it is not necessary.  I think it is very much Tim Holtz.  I cut it four times, three times in the same card stock and once in the darker card stock.  I cut the antlers off the dark cut and adhered it to one layer.  I chalked all the layers and used pop dots in between for super dimension.

Ingredients:
Sizzix Tim Holtz Movers & Shapers antlers die
Frantic Stamper Stitched Cut Corner tag dies
The Paper Loft Huckleberry Pond and Hooked on Fishing
wood grain embossing folder
Scrappy Moms Happy Campers sentiment
Recollections Clear Bark embossing powder
Mix'd Media Truffle ink
kraft card stock
Quick Quotes Amaretto chalking ink
