Spring is A Buzz! Happy Spring Equinox!

Happy Spring Equinox!  I have created a shaped card using my Cricut Explore Air.  I experimented with some vellum on this one.  I am not exactly how the vellum honeycombs turned out but the vellum envelope is great.  It's so nice to glimpse the lovely card inside.  I also used vellum for the wings which also didn't turn out as planned.  I will try this card again some time with different materials.

Quick Quotes Dragonfly Gatefold card

Good morning, Quick Quotes readers, Alicia with you today.  I have created a lovely die cut gate fold card.  I recently purchased this SVG file, I love die cutting Quick Quotes papers in manual or electronic die cutters.  The sturdy double sided papers work wonderfully in both styles of machines.

I added some fancy gems to the front to bring out the art nouveau look to the card.  The gem colors match the Jade Powderpuff chalking ink I used for coloring.

One of the reasons I chose this card because of the vellum elements.  I thought what a neat idea to add color to the dragonfly on the vellum.  I inked my Powderpuff chalk directly onto the vellum for a deeper color.  I inked several layers to get the coverage I desired.  I only inked the area behind the dragonfly and not the entire vellum panel.

You can see the partial inking on the inside.  I also used a small piece of vellum to cover up the half of the adhesive on the center gem so it doesn't stick to both halves of the gate fold.  The cut file provided a frame to cover the edges of the vellum inside in addition to an area to write.

Here's one final view partially open.  I just love dragonflies and this card was pretty easy and yet turned out gorgeous.

Congratulations! with Frantic Stamper

Good morning readers, Alicia here today with a graduation card. This one is a very special personalized card and isn't that the beauty of handmade cards? My eldest niece is graduating and she is like my own. I wanted to use her school colors and something a little extra.

The extra is...I used an actual photo of her dress as the skirt of the dress on the card! As soon as I purchased the Frantic Stamper Pleated Dress die I started to envision this card. This was the second card I made with this die so I had a little more experience. I still cut the piece twice and adhere together with very strong red lined tape. But this time I folded the pleats toward the center to create a more formal look.

I printed two 5x7's of Hana with her dress all spread out and cut from the same spot to provide uniformity.

I added another fancy cut with the same blue glitter paper as the top of the dress. I also embellished with plenty of pearl including a faux pearl necklace like my niece always wears.

To dress this card up even more, pun intended...I ran a piece of vellum through Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Simplicity embossing folder. I layered that on top of a shimmer card stock with blue Congratulations randomly stamped image. I hope you are inspired to try die cutting a photo for a personalized project. I believe she will probably have this card longer than the actual dress!

With all my Heart...Quick Quotes cards

Good morning, Alicia here today with some alternative Mother's Day cards.  The cards I have created use Quick Quotes Vellum Quotes and Quick Quotes Phrases and Quotes as the primary element.  Any of the cards I made could be Mother's Day cards or for a special mother figure in your life.

On this card I used some dies, glitter stickers, layers of paper, a die cut frame with pearls, buttons and a flower.  I also added the peachy butterfly as the final touch.  I chalked all the edges with Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking inks.

For the second card I used more layers of paper and die cuts.  I also added some lovely fiber and pearls.  Again, I chalked all the edges with Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking inks.

Finally, I created a card with some of the scraps from the first two cards.  I added some punches and as always inked the edges.

There's a rainbow...

Good morning blog readers!  Alicia here today.  March is making me think about Spring and I have for you a colorful spring card using several dies to create a landscape.  The clouds look so pretty in vellum.  I inked my background with a sponge dauber to create the sky background.

I ended up with 7 rainbows since I cut one set out of each color.  I made 5 of these cards and a couple of another design. It was really fun and easy...who doesn't want to assemble rainbows? Here's a close up:

Quick Quotes Inking on vellum

Hello Quick Quotes readers!  Alicia with you today and I have been playing with some Powder Puff Chalking inks.  I was experimenting with some vellum and embossing folders.  I made a three cards for a wide variety of occasions. Vellum can be so versatile.  Don't forget to check out Quick Quotes wide variety of vellum quotes.  Here are some tips I discovered while playing:
  • Chalk on the back starting lightly, you can always add more to achieve your desired effect
  • Layering the vellum on a white or a light color will allow more true color to show

  • For more coverage use a brush or large sponge (blue water)
  • For more detail use a cotton swab or small sponge tip (fish)

Quick Quotes Products:

Other products:
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Stampin Up stamp
Spellbinders die

  • Ink the edges of the vellum and all layers for a pop!
  • Use brads to hold vellum down and/or use strong adhesive behind a layer on top of the vellum

Quick Quotes Products:

Other products:
Darice embossing folder
Tim Holtz movers and shakers label die
ribbon
tan and brown card stock
CTMH Sincere Expressions stamp
brown brads

  • Coloring doesn't have to be perfect, vellum lends itself to a blended look
  • Adhere behind a heavily inked area with tiny glue dots
