Cricut Just Because Coffee Card

I still have a subscription to Cricut Access so I thought I would take advantage and cut some coffee cuts and make several cards last evening...well sometimes plans just don't work out.  I cut about a dozen images but I made a big mistake.  I cut what was supposed to be white layers in a tan print and cut the tan in white, needless to say lattes need to be tan and whipped cream should be white.  I will be able to save some of my pieces but I will need to cut those two layers again in the appropriate colors.

So this card and a couple of other images did not have the white/tan issue.  The dark brown card stock I used was textured and didn't cut very clean.  However, the card was fine after some surgery with a craft knife and fine scissors.  I don't care for the custom envelopes but this card was an odd size.  In the end I could have cut the image and placed it on an A2 base.  I would also use acetate for the "shine" in the pot.  After I make a cut the first time I usually find several tips to try on the second go round...live and learn.

Creative Memories Bountiful Card with Sketch N Scrap card sketch

I have always loved this paper.  It was a seasonal 8x8 pack from Creative Memories so long ago.  Being a consultant I am sure I had to order a 6 pack or something like that.  I am sure I sold some/gifted some whatever the deal was but I know I kept at least two packs.  I ran out a year or so ago and I think I mostly used it for cards as I primarily create 8x8's for gifts and I have to love you a lot to make one.  Anywho...I found a pack at a thrift store for $1!!! wooohoo, more cards from these wonderful papers.  It is a fall pack but I don't think the blue/browns are that seasonal.  The other half of the papers are greens, golds and browns with leaves. These have flourishes...very universal.

Here is the sketch I used.

I used the CM printed paper for the background, sentiment strip and the horse and butterfly die cut.  There were several coordinating prints from which to chose.  I punched the scallop from a glitter scrap.  I inked up the wood embellishment with the QQ inks.  Finally, I grabbed a CM sticker from the Farm and Ranch set.

Ingredients:
Creative Memories Bountiful 8x8 paper pack
Creative Memories sticker
Cricut horse die cut
Stampin Up Bitty Butterfly and 7/8" scallop punch
Stampin Up Dragonfly Dreams sentiment
A Muse French Roast ink
Judikins clear detail embossing powder
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking inks in Mocha Moma and Baby Blue

The Storytellers Club Island layout

I was very productive today and completed two more pages.  Still playing along with Sketch N Scraps 8th Birthday Bash Crop.  I pulled out an old summer themed kit from The Storytellers Club.  I broke apart the kits some years ago so I did have to spend some time finding matching card stock but after that...it went quite smoothly.

Here's the vintage sketch from Sketch N Scrap.

I used my circle cutter and pens to create the overlapping circles.  I did this technique to compliment the paper versus the dots in the sketch.

Ingredients:
The Storytellers Club papers and die cuts
Bo Bunny Clover dot card stock
Creative Memories circle cutter and pens
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink Mocha Moma

Creative Memories Ice Cream stickers Life's Sweet card

I was going through some of my "food" stash and found these old Creative Memories Ice Cream stickers.  I can't EVEN tell you how old these are...I saw them and challenged myself to create a card with them.  I think it turned out neat.

Steps to make it:
  1. Begin with A2 pink card base, cut iridescent shimmer paper to 4 1/8"x 5 3/8" to create a 1/8" border of pink.
  2. Splatter or spray shimmer mist on iridescent shimmer paper and allow to dry
  3. Layer stickers on a 1" white square and ink edges
  4. Layer sticker square on 1 1/4" hot pink square and ink edges
  5. After the mist has dried ink edges of white layer
  6. Stamp sentiment in appropriate area of iridescent layer
  7. Adhere layered squares corner to corner on iridescent layer
  8. Adhere complete iridescent layer to card base

I always like to layer as much as possible on my background prior to adhering to card base.  Often, I find things easier to line up, etc.  The exception is bulky embellishments which I add in the final step. However, this card is super flat.

Ingredients:
Shimmer card stock
Creative Memories stickers and pink card stock
Heidi Swapp Hot Pink shimmer mist
Fiskars The Sweet Life sentiment
pink ink and clear embossing powder

My Mind's Eye and Prima with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

It's time for another sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge.  Again, I dug into my stash of miscellaneous papers and embellishments that I have collected on my desk.  I don't know where I got these scalloped oval with matching border dies, but I have used them a couple of times and this is the last!  I must have started with 6-10 of them.  I was digging in my green papers for something else when I ran across this gorgeous and super old plaid paper.  I immediately thought of these dies.  The sets even came with the precut white oval.  I only had to find a sentiment that fit.

Here is the sketch.

When I found this floral spray from Prima in my flower stash, I knew immediately it would work with this paper.  After this discovery is when I finalized my ink/embossing selection and stamped the sentiment.

The Prima piece was really long so I cut it in two and also had two sets of die cuts!  So here is the second card which uses the top half of the Prima spray.

The first comment my husband had was "those will not fit in a regular envelope" and no, they will need a padded envy to arrive safe.  I try to save these heavily embellished card for in person delivery.

Ingredients:
Prima floral embellishment
My Mind's Eye Wild Asparagus Plaid paper
Stamp Oasis sentiment (1992)
Recollections Pearl Eggplant embossing powder
Versamark ink

Stand and Salute~Military cards for Bitten by the Bug 2's challenge

Welcome to my inspiration for the latest Bitten By the Bug 2's Military Challenge,  I made a couple of cards using Cricut Access.  I recently signed up for a two months because of a special offer.  I hope to cut most of this years Cricut challenge cuts before the special price is up.  Therefore, both of these cards utilize Access images.  These were super easy but any soldier would love to receive them.

This card uses Cricut Summer Celebrations and was so super easy.  Cricut even gives you some placement marks for the stars.

Here I used Cricut Stand and Salute.  I dug out some camo paper and gave it a final touch of gold Wink of Stella on the stars.

Ingredients:
Cricut Maker

Sketches in Thyme Vacation layout with Cricut embellishments

One more vacation layout. This time I found the sketch over at Sketches in Thyme fit these photos best.  I was able to use scraps for the mats and Cricut cuts.

Here is the sketch from Sketches in Thyme.  I feel I did a good job at turning the sketch from Christmas looking to tropical.

I used a large circle template and pens to create the circles.  I used my Cricut Maker to cut the clouds...I wanted a variety and each one of these clouds is from a different image set.

Ingredients:
Cricut-Close To My Heart Artiste, CTMH Art Philosophy, Cricut Basics, Bits and Pieces, and Beach Life
DCWV tropical card stock
misc card stock
Recollection pens
Creative Memories large circle template and sticker letters

Jamaica Vacation layout with Sketch N Scrap sketch

For this vacation layout I used a scrapbook page kit I purchased long ago. I think the name of the company was Scrap-a-doo.  I can't find them online.  Anywho...I cut the die cut frame into 4 pieces.  I used the title portion and other segments on the layout.  The Paper House printed paper came with the die cut layer.  I added some die cut palm trees I cut on the Cricut.

The previous Sketch N Scrap sketch I used. After I made the decision to cut the die cut frame apart the layout came together easily.

Ingredients:
Paper house paper
Scrap-a-doo ? die cut layer
Cricut-Beach Life
Bazzill and Graphic 45 card stock
misc card stock
Creative Memories brown pen

Thanks for reading and I hope if you are a regular you aren't tired of my vacation photos yet.

DCWV and Bo Bunny with Sketch N Scrap sketch

This is the companion page to the previous post.  I picked up these papers on my first post stay at home shopping (for fun) trip. My local used art supply store was open for appointments only at this time.  I got off a bit early on Friday and made an appointment when I got off.  I scored a handful of this Bo Bunny green dot card stock.  The flip side is solid but with a little distress which will also come in handy.  This one is clover dot but I snagged a couple of other colors one being wasabi dot.

Here is the sketch from Sketch N Scrap.

I whipped these palm trees up on my Cricut.  I used a printed green paper for the leaves and kraft for the trunk.

Ingredients:
DCWV Tie Dye stack
Bo Bunny Clover Dot
Cricut-Nature Collections
Tutti Scalloped Stitched Nesting Circles and Stitched Nesting Banner
Spellbinders Circle die
Creative Memories sticker sentiment
misc card stock
