Our Fairytale...Karen Burniston Castle Pop Up and Kindred Stamps

Hello and welcome to my blog today.  I have created a very special card for my husband to celebrate our anniversary.  I used several different manufacturer's products to create a one of a kind work.  The front of the card shown here is actually the last panel I created.  I took a cue from Karen Burniston and used leftover pieces and parts to lead into the big reveal...

The castle pop up!  The center piece of this project using the Karen Burniston Castle Pop Up die set.  I used We R brand papers Once Upon a Time throughout the project.  I did find a nice red for the brick and roof tiles in my Quick Quotes stash.

I am really in love with the castle pop up.  It was so easy.  The hardest part is choosing the papers.

I used alcohol markers to color my ogre's.

And the final result.

I didn't get a great shot of the clouds but some are fussy cut from the paper and some are die cut from the cloud paper with the cloud dies from the KB die set.

I used the same paper collection for the front.  I used a stencil and shimmer mist to create the stars.  I colored the fairy with alcohol markers with a hint of shimmer and glossy accents for eyeglasses.

Ingredients:
Karen Burniston Castle Pop-Up dies
Kindred Stamps Fairytale Swamp and Swamp Sidekicks stamps
Tim Holtz Hocus Pocus Layering Stencil
Spellbinders Foliage Two dies
We R Once Upon a Time papers
Quick Quotes Main Street paper (red)
twine
alcohol pens and Creative Memories gold metallic pen
shimmer spray and wink of stella pens

Karen Burniston Campfire and Smores Pop Up for Dies R Us

It's a Sweet Hello! Complete with a campfire and yummy gooey smores. Tis the season for outdoor fun and today I used several Karen Burniston die sets to create this fun pop up.  On the front I used nesting dies to frame words and the pieced smores with a sprinkle of marshmallows.

The details on the smores are impeccable right down to the dots in the graham crackers.

And on the inside...a pop up campfire accented with marshmallows on a stick.  The sentiment completes on the inside.

Still perfecting the pop up fire.  One of Karen's suggestions is to color the empty fold space.  That's the easy step, the stones aren't too hard either but getting the fire to pop up properly is the tricky part.  It's always best to adhere one side firmly, then add glue to the "loose" side and close the card on it.

Karen Burniston Happy Camper Tent Pop Up card

Hello Happy Camper!  Tis the season for outdoor fun and today I am using several Karen Burniston die sets to create this fun summer card.  On the front I used nesting dies to frame the sentiment and lantern cuts.  I used ink to color the "light" in the lantern.

I love a good pop up and the tent does not disappoint. I used the Karen Burniston Pop Up Tent assembly video to get started.  I found the perfect paper, however, it was not double sided as Karen suggested.  I used blue ink to color the tent flaps.  I added brads to hold them back.  The die cut provides the holes. The cut also has the holes for the twine to go through the tent.  I used more brads to secure the "ropes".

The fire is also a pop up included in the tent pop up set.  The stump and the attaching mechanism are also included in the set.  I used vellum for the pop up mechanism to lessen the visibility. To have a pop up on the other side, simply reverse the folds.

The small lantern is from the Karen Burniston Camping Charms.

Products from the Dies R Us store:

other products:
Basic Grey papers
misc papers and vellum
twine and brads
pen and ink

Bling on the Turkey! Karen Burniston Pop n Swap for Dies R Us

Happy Thanksgiving, Alicia here today.  I don't know about you but this holiday just won't be the same without the large gatherings for food and fellowship.  I hope sending this card will brighten someone's holiday. At first glance it's a nice enough card with a neat cut away but wait for it...

Wow!  the Karen Burniston Pop n Swap die set really packs a punch.  The top turkey is just fine but as he disappears the bottom turkey appears all blinged out with glitter and other specialty papers.

The mechanism works super smooth, however there are a couple of tricks and tips to keep in mind.  The top pop up has a limited field of movement, be sure and test before adhering permanently.  I had to trim the bottom of the top frame.  Always check any movement for catch points before finalizing placement.

I basically followed Karen Burniston's instructional video for this mechanism.  I even rounded the corners of my card.  I found that the best method for my first time working with this die set.  I can't wait to dream up more fun uses for this one!

I used the following products in my card:
Quick Quotes Autumn Blessings designer papers and Powderpuff chalking ink
Inside sentiment-misc fonts cut with a Cricut
misc papers
sequins

and from the store...
