Quick Quotes~Have a Cool Yule Cards

Good morning Quick Quotes readers, Alicia here today to show off some seasonal cards.  I have been making plenty of Christmas cards lately, but today I am working with some shaped cards.  I love to change it up!

For the first card I found this super neat fold.  The inspiration was a spring flower but I immediately pictured it in red as a poinsettia.  This fold is often created with circles but I used hexes.  Here's the directions for the flower:
  • cut 6 hexes.  I used 2.25" to cover the entire card but you could make smaller.
  • fold two edges toward the inside, chalk generously
  • I spritzed with some shimmer spray for a little pizzazz
  • adhere pieces with pointed end in center
  • create a center, I used a fancy circular die cut and bling
  • I adhered to a circlular piece before adhering to the base card

To finish the card, I cut a circle from 49 Shades of Grey paper 101 for the inside and stamped my sentiment.

Spellbinders hex and label 32
Cricut cut shaped base card
Tattered Angels Glacier
misc gems

For the second card I used a flip it card die that included dies for all the panels.  I used a couple of papers to fill in the panels and stamped my sentiment on white card stock.  I fussy cut a snowflake from Celebrate paper 100 to mount on the back of the flip and die cuts.  It worked perfectly! Quick Quotes collections of double sided papers are great for this type of card.

Finally, I added some ribbon and frosty candy dots.

Fiskars scallop oval punch
Amazing Arts sentiment stamp
Sizzix Regal Flip its die
Pebbles candy dots

Neither of the cards were too hard but still have a wow factor because of the fancy shapes.  I love trying something "outside the box".  I hope you are inspired to do the same.  Thank you for stopping by today!
