Cricut Get Well Soon

Good morning and welcome to the first Bitten By the Bug 2 challenge of 2021.  Our theme is Get Well Wishes and is open for the next two weeks.  I always try to begin with about 3 ideas for projects when creating for our themes.  Today I am showing you all three attempts.

My first card from Simple Cards turned out to do double time by using the negatives.  I used the same navy card stock behind the original cut as the card base for the negatives.

I used the original cut for a stencil prior to adhering the back layer.  I tape it to my desktop using blue painters tape.  The original was not exactly A2 size but I did cut my negative card that size, hence the navy blue lip sticking out.  I centered the stencil before gluing the pieces in place.

Here is the completed negative card.

I also made this whale card.  I used more Quick Quotes paper, however, this is from a nautical collection. I felt that was fitting for the whale card.

And finally, I would like to show how not all ideas come out the way I plan.  After much consideration about what printed papers to use, I thought this black and white would look great with a pop of red.  FAIL.  I almost didn't post it, but I decided you should see what cards I would typically not blog. While the first card turned out beautifully (the inside is a nice soft pattern) with the print working for the card...this print did NOT lend itself to the cut.

Ingredients:
Quick Quotes Harmony and Anchor's Away papers
Quick Quotes Deep Sea Powderpuff chalking ink
Basic Grey Spice Market paper (black and white)
misc card stock

I would like to enter this in the following challenges:

Thanks very much for stopping by and don't forget to play along with the Bitten By the Bug 2 challenge until January 18.

  2. Great idea to use the first one as a stencil to place the negative cut. Two for one cards are always the best. I have posted my fails sometimes too just to show it doesn’t always turn out the way you think it will.

  3. Love the idea of using both the original and negative to make two cards from one cut. Awesome. Of course the “get whale soon” card is my fav! I love punny cards. The paper you used for your “failed” card is gorgeous but yeah, did not work with the cut. LOL

  4. I love how you got two cards out of your image. It seems like we need too many of these lately. These are sure to make someone feel better by your thoughtfulness. We certainly all have those card "fails".

  6. I love punny cards too-the whale is my favorite! But I do really like the get well pair using the negatives as well. I often have card fails too! Things don't always turn out like the vision in my mind, lol!
