Hello, Alicia with you today. I created a couple of layouts with the new Savannah papers and Savannah Quotes and Phrases sheet. I love the checkerboard pattern of Savannah 100 paper and found it a perfect accent to the bike ride photos.
While I love the checkerboard pattern, I found it too busy for the background and the light title really popped on the dark background. Here are the steps to creating this layout:
- Use Savannah paper 100 dark side as the background
- Cut shape from Savannah paper 100 checkerboard side approximately 9"
- Cut photo mats to fit 3 photos to create .25" border
- Cut Savannah paper 103 to 1" x 12"
- Cut sentiment strip from Savannah Quotes and Phrases sheet
- Cut title from Savannah paper 102 light side
- Ink all edges generously with Midnight Confessions Powderpuff chalking ink
- Mount photos to mats
- Adhere all pieces to background, layer the shape off the page slightly and cut off excess
- Add washi tape and mosaic gems strategically to finish layout
To create the second page:
- Use Savannah paper 101 light side as background
- Cut banner sentiments and title strip from Savannah Quotes and Phrases sheet
- Using templates cut border from scrap pieces
- Cut mats for photos from Savannah paper 101 dark side
- Ink all edges generously with Midnight Confessions Powderpuff chalking ink
- Adhere border pieces and photos
- Layer washi tape under banner and title sentiments area and other chosen area(s)
- Adhere banner and title sentiments
I ripped the washi tape for a grungy look.
Tips and Tricks:
- Cut and ink all pieces then play around with the placement before adhering to background.
- Use scraps when ever possible, on this layout I was able to use the same piece I cut the title from as a couple of the photo mats. Waste not, want not!
- Don't be afraid to cut it up! On the second page I cut the 12" sentiment strip in to usable sizes for my title placement.
