DCWV Tropical Hibiscus Layout

I love taking photos of the tropical flowers while in Jamaica.  This layout came together pretty easily.  I found the perfect background paper from DCWV.  I can't remember the name of the stack it is so old and I don't have the cover there are so few sheet left.  I pulled the primary colors from the flower paper for the mats and Cricut cuts.

I created this with a sketch from Sketch N Scrap's 8th Birthday Bash Crop.

I currently belong to Cricut Access as they were offering a deal for two months.  I am enjoying it but sometimes I don't make a lot of cuts and just can't justify $10 a month as I already own about 100 cartridges.  When I searched hibiscus I owned half the images already as this one, it is from Close to My Heart-You are here.  Anyway, it's fun for now!

Ingredients:
DCWV tropical stack
Close to My Heart You Are Here Cricut cartridge
Creative Memories sticker letters

Stampin Up Four Feathers with Sketch N Scrap sketch

I am playing along all month with Sketch N Scrap's 8th Birthday Bash Crop.  This is their first card sketch of the month.  I found the papers I used at a local craft thrift store, Indigo Hippo, and knew immediately I had to make a card for my friend.  We had a social distancing happy hour at their house a few days ago and I whipped this up to give her.

Here is the sketch from Sketch N Scrap:

I tried to mimic the look of the feathers in the paper by inking the stamps with various layers of color.  It worked fairly well.  I did have to stamp a few more layers that I initially thought to smooth out the sharp lines.

One of the flowers seemed a little muddier than the others so that is the one I left off the card.  I really like how the remaining three look.

A final look at this beauty.

Ingredients:
Scrapberry's Nature's Spirit 6x6 papers
Stampin Up Four Feathers and Whimsical Words stamps and dies
Frantic Stamper rounded corner rectangle die
Versamark ink
Recollections Eggplant embossing powder
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking inks Jade, Tropical Punch, Purple Rain and Banana Bliss

Cricut Tie Dye Llama card

I currently have a subscription to Cricut Access, not a luxury I often afford myself.  So I am taking advantage of some super cute cuts!  I used some of my very favorite papers on this card so of course, I love it!  I layered the Cricut cut on some manual die cut layers of DCWV Tie Dye stack.

I also used POW glitter papers they are so super pretty.  I have found out the hard way that manual die cutting doesn't work very well on this paper.  It won't completely cut through the slick backing.  However, on the Cricut it cuts like butter!  It even cut the super thin ear outlines perfectly.

Ingredients:
Cricut Llama image
DCWV Tie Dye stack
POW glitter paper
Spellbinders labels thirty eight dies
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink
misc card stock

DCWV Tropical bar layout

Another layout of my recent vacation.  The Sunken Treasure is the primary bar where we all hang out and/or meet up at the resort. And these two scruffy men are friends.

I really liked the tiki paper for the background of this bar layout.  It is from a DCWV stack of which I cannot remember the name.  Both printed papers and the letters are part of the collection.  I used washi tape for the thinner strip at the bottom. The design contained white (transparent) areas so I mounted it on white card stock first so the pattern remained distinct.

Here is the sketch I used from  Sketch N Scrap's 8th Birthday Bash Crop.

Since the photo was of the beer taps, I thought the beer stickers made good embellishments.  I layered them on some oval punches.  I punched the stars from the same paper and edged all of the elements with ink.

Ingredients:
DCWV tropical stack and matching letters
Paper House beer stickers
Stampin Up oval punch
Creative Memories star punch
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink Mocha Moma
misc card stock
washi tape

DCWV Tropical layout and Cricut Palm Tree

This year's vacation was a bit rainy.  Almost every day was a red flag day.  I was only able to snorkel one day. These are not my photos, I borrowed them from friends on FB. We have a FB group for attendees.

Here's the sketch from  Sketch N Scrap's 8th Birthday Bash Crop.

I made palm tree accents with my Cricut and added pineapple confetti.  I ended up covering up the pineapples but they are in the patterned paper.

The  tag and letters are matching chipboard stickers.

Ingredients:
DCWV paper stack and coordinating chipboard elements
misc card stock
Cricut Palm Tree from Plant Illustrations
Pineapple confetti
washi tape

Jenni Bolin Mini Deck Vintage Fortune Telling with Atlantic Hearts Sketch challenge

Today I present my inspiration for the latest Atlantic Hearts Sketch
challenge.  I was cleaning up and organizing my stash when I played with this sketch.  I had reached the bottom of a very old stack of papers and I found this printed paper and the Jenni Bolin cards already paired.  I found a pre-cut green card stock A2 card base and die cut the printed paper.  I added a black nesting die cut for the next layer.  I was impressed how the two pieces quickly became a card.

Here is the sketch:

I dug in my blue embellishment box and found a cabochon and Prima fiber to match the hearts on the card.

I layered  the simple cabochon, button and bingo token for the accent replacing the bow in the sketch.

Ingredients:
Jenni Bolin Mini Deck Vintage Fortune Telling
Frantic Stamper rounded corner stitched rectangle dies
Prima fiber
Green and black card stock
patterned card stock from my stash
Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink
bling, button and bingo token

Obligatory Graduation Card for Bitten By the Bug's Graduation Challenge

This year's graduates are in a very unique situation.  I have a few grads in my life so I created a stack of easy Cricut graduation cards. This first one was made for a very special recipient.  I can't wait to send it.  I am sure if you are a card maker you are trying to make this years' graduation feel a little extra special since they are missing their traditional ceremonies.  So share you fantastic makes with us at Bitten By the Bug 2's Graduation Challenge open until 5/25.

One trick to creating a "stack" of cards is to use all the bits and pieces.  I have used the negative cuts from the original card to make an entirely different card.  The original is on the right.  I used it for placement of the negative pieces prior to assembling it.  I placed the negatives on a fun tie dyed paper as well, it just happens to be monochromatic so it looks like a sky.  I liked it.

The negative of this card didn't hold up so well with the think letters.  I had to trash most of these pieces but kept the hat for another card later.  This one has already been mailed.  I also made a couple of others not pictured.

Ingredients:
Cricut Maker
Cricut Graduation Quick Cut Cards on Access
DCWV Tie Dyed stack
misc card stock

Quick Quotes Anchors Aweigh with Sketch N Scrap Birthday sketch

Hello, I have been gearing up to scrap, printing photos and searching sketches.  There's lots to play along with at the Sketch N Scraps 8th Birthday Bash Crop.  I printed photos of my most recent vacation to perk me up.  It seems like so long ago but this was just January.  I feel so lucky I got a good vacation in before the pandemic hit.  When I was returning there were already lots of folks wearing mask in the airports.

Here is the sketch from  Sketch N Scraps 8th Birthday Bash Crop.

These are shots from the last evening.  We were all taking it easy and finally remembering to take photos of our vacation.

I created some embellishments.  I used Stampin Up punches and layered gems or smaller punches to create several small embellishments.  The larger dimensional seashell is from K & Co.

Ingredients:
Quick Quotes Anchors Aweigh papers and embellishments
Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking inks
Tim Holtz Sizzix Movers and Shapers Seahorse  and Seashell die
K & Co dimensional stickers
Stampin Up punches
gems

DCWV Rockstar You Rock card

Hello, I made today's card for my husband's recent birthday.  He sometimes sings so the microphone image in the die cut was perfect for his card.  I cut it from metallic card stock and layered it on a background of half black and half printed card stock.I used a Kiwi Lane template to get a curve on the divide.

The die cut beautifully from the metallic card stock.

I cut the sentiment from black card stock.

Ingredients:
Amy Design Music Border die
Frantic Stamper Dance Sing Rock dies
DCWV Rockstar stack
Kiwi Lane template
black and silver card stock
